I'm not joe but one of mine does this. It has something to do with the timing? I was able to get the recoil working again by removing it from the stock and looking down into the trigger mechanism at the rear of the gun (action upside down). You'll see that part of the trigger hits that step on the rear recoil pin. I carefully pushed that springloaded mechanism down and it allows the gun to slide forward or backward on the recoil pins. I can't remember if putting it back together in the rear position or the forward position fixed it but put it back in the stock in the opposite position of what you're currently trying and it should work.
