Well I started shimming, even though it didn’t need it, just so I can get more spring tension on the inner tube. After 400 shots I can already tell a difference. No more wandering whatsoever. I haven’t had to adjust a single click since the initial sight-in. She’s holding zero tighter than my wife holds our checkbook. I’m a happy man!
If you’re having trouble holding zero, just slip a decent sized shim under the scope on the rear mount, or get a drooper mount. It even made my cheap package scope on my beater rifle straighten up even though it was just a tiny bit off from optically centered. Optically centered isn’t quite enough tension, you need even more.
