I actually gave a small buck a pass this year but more out of pity than anything else.
i was hunting my Thanksgiving weekend Antlerless allowed and by some weird science the bucks was in late rut I watched three bucks chase some doe’s out of the bottom when the two bigger ones turned on the smaller single point chasing him off. The doe’s ran up the hill and headed for the pasture and creek. Knowing where they headed I decided to climb down and see if I could swing down wind and stalk them out. About half way through the hike walking with his head down that spike walks out right in front of me, I stopped and could have taken the shot but shoot I figured the poor fella had been beaten up enough for one day.
Let him pass and when I got up to the pasture the two 8 points and three doe was on the hill took a good 180 pound buck
