I am opposite of most as I buy the cheapest scopes that function properly. Keep in mind once I zero a scope, I never touch the turrets, so my main requirement is it holds zero.
The Centerpoint 4-16×40 is still in my mind the best bargain available. $69 from Walmart. Sorry, it is under $100 but should be mentioned as these will hold up on about anything. Glass isn’t the best, but they are Ford tough!!
For a decent quality scope in the $100- $500 range, I must agree the SWFA is probably the best in my opinion. Though my personal favorites are the BSA Contender series. The BSA airgun line is decent as well, but to me the Contenders are a very over looked scope. I have owned near 20 Contenders and only had one issue which BSA replaced no questions asked. I actually have some old Contenders that had the old rubber finish on them that is coming off. Called BSA and if I simply send them in, they will replace them with brand new scopes. I don’t even have the boxes or receipts anymore as these scopes are 12 years old. That is service in my mind.
