Reply To: Close range pesting with wadcutters or HPs?
If most of your shots are 10 yds with the occasional 18 yd shot on pest birds and squirrels you should get setup with a 10 – 12 fpe airgun. That close of ranges even 10 fpe can be allot and have pass thrus on pest birds. I get people commenting on some of my videos about how much power I am using. They say “man you must be using a .22 at 30 fpe for a hit like that” I say no its a .177 @ 10.6 fpe @ the muzzle and the shots are 18 – 21 yds. A nice soft shooting springer or pcp if you want quick follow up shots would be perfect at 10 – 12 fpe. I have two pcp setup for lower power one is .177 and gets over 160 shots on a fill and the other is a 15 fpe .22 carbine that gets something north of 70 shots a fill. I dont remember the last time I filled them:)
