Reply To: Shot a couple big hogs with the Air Bolt
From a performance point of view, the Air Bolts out of my Dragon Claw (which is not an overly powerful .50 BTW) is an order of magnitude more powerful than the Pioneer. Both are very accurate, but you get substantially more range out of the Air Bolt / DC combo. The Pioneer is faster on the reload.
I think that the bigger advantage is the much better Value proposition of the Air Bolts. Even though the Air Bolts are more expensive than Crosman Arrows, you don’t need to spend the big dollars for a gun that will only shoot arrows. The gun you use to shoot the Air Bolt can also shoot bullets, or in the case of the Wing Shot bullets and shotshells as well.
I think the thing that will make Air Bolts a no brainier is when they come out in a range of calibers, there are many more .35 and .45 big bores out there. This would turn a .357 big bore, which I personally consider primarily a predator gun, into a solid big game gun.
