Looks great, sir! I'm wanting to do a live edge table at some point in the near future. I've been looking for an appropriate slab of wood for it. I dont have a way to flatten larger sizes though, but suppose I could go to a buddy with a CNC. How are you accomplishing this?
Far as the turning, I also found a site that sells nested bowl sets. These are cut out using a coring system and dried so you just have to mount them up between centers, make a tenon and chuck it up and finish it out. When completed, they can be sold as a finished set. They have a nice selection, too and free shipping on orders over $100
I have a couple of lumber yards near me, plus a Rockler, that sell slabs that are mostly flat. Little hand planing and a #80 cabinet scraper before Tried and True Danish Oil.
Rockler close by helps... I have Klingspor about 45 min away, but havent looked at live edge slabs. I suppose I've been looking at the 'lazy' way of doing it forgetting that things have been made flat with a hand plane for a lot of years....
