Huma has introduced regulator for RAW guns

I have used Huma regulator in fx Royal 400 and found them more efficient and consistent.

RAW regulator design is very similar to that of FX Royal regulator.

But RAW regulator may be more consistent as said above.

The good thing about Huma regulator is its size and very high pressure capability that can be productive for higher powers.

Been a few years now, but had removed the factory seat material ( White Delrin ) Replacing it with PEEK.

O-rings on the spool replaced with Poly rings.

All done the regulator has been super solid offering single digit ES values and does not set point drift what so ever.

Only reason I can think of that makes sense for a HuMa retrofit would be that of gaining some plenum volume for the Big bore / Higher power applications.

These factory regulators ( AKA: Theoben design ) have been around for many years now and have an undisputed track record of working quite well.

Just sharing thoughts ....

I see this as being a second option for those who don't have a regulated RAW or Theoben. Not all are regulated. I for one, have a RAW (non HMX) which was offered as the "High Power" version in .22. This one has the high flow valve sans the reg. Now I have a choice other than the factory reg if it suits my fancy.

Also, it is my vague understanding that there is a bit of a difference between the pre-Airforce HMX models and the offerings you would get if you buy now. I believe that the current HMX models utilize the previous .357 model breech created by Martin which probably has a larger port and bore (plenum). My HMX (non .357) is pre-Airforce and may benefit from the slight increase in cc size at the reg (for slugs, etc.).

Speaking of which, a bit more detail as to extra volume gained with the HUMA design would be nice.

Scott, I’m a bit confused. Is the factory reg solid as described above or AFTER the modifications with seat and oring upgrade materials? Thanks.
Mike

It is a great reg in stock form, but the seat tends beat out after a couple years. O-rings are a wear item no matter what, poly just has a longer service life.

The Seat going to PEEK is same as what Martin was doing for the High Pressure CF bottle guns. Just a reliability issue with reg being able to hold set point for a longer time span / use.
