September weather is about the best we have here in Concord, CA. Not too warm, not too cold and not wildly windy. It's also when shooters who'd rather knock over steel than watch football come out to play.
Today we had light attendance with only 8 competitors as a few regulars have moved on and others had prior obligations. There was no shortage of enthusiasm for setting up the course though with most arriving promptly and lending a hand. This core group has been doing this together long enough to know what needs to be done and the 62 shot course was set up in short order. In addition we welcomed Larry, a regular of the Sacramento Valley Field Target Club who made the trip down to join us.
Even with September's favorable conditions, the light wind with occasional gusts swirling between a high berm on the left and an 8 foot high wall separating ranges on the right can be challenging as this shooter had one shot blown completely off the face plate at 50 yards. As usual, a few targets with rather small KZ's were set at challenging distances as one could hear a few "What the hecks" from shooters addressing those lanes.
Without further ado, the scores out of a possible 62 were:
WFTF PCP
Son L 54
Larry 39
WFTF Spring Piston
Jim P 42
Hunter PCP
Sam R 57 High score
Pete 54
Kevin 53
Hunter Spring Piston
Chris K 49 (convert from PCP to miserable spring gun)
Hope to see everyone next month.
