Do we need to rename the "Traditional Airguns" forum?

Curious, what defines "Traditional" to you?

I was showing off some of my airguns to a friend the other day and caught myself referring to my HW100 and S510 as "Traditional PCPs".

Guess that I view blued steel and wood long-guns as being "Traditional" where as anodized/painted aluminum bullpups and such are "Modern".

In my (strange) mind, "Bottle-guns" like my Crown and Wolverine are kinda sandwiched in-between the Traditional and Modern categories. 🙂

Being an old guy that grew up shooting springers, I can relate to them being "Traditional" from that perspective.

The turth is that the Girardoni was made in 1779 and AFAIK it predates springers. I don't think they had the technology to make suitable springs back then.

So, based on age, are PCPs more traditional than springers?

I'm not trying to stir the pot or even wanting to change a forum name. I'm just thinking aloud here.

Cheers!

Springers , SSP's , multi pump , guns you can pick up and a tin of pellets and go shoot , no extra baggage .

(Thinking , isn't there a multi pump that shoots a few shots b4 having to pump again ?)
Agreed, good definition of Traditional!

You don't know how many times I've wished for a multi-pump, multi-shot airgun when the rabbit I just missed sat there until I was almost ready for the next shot.

Winter hunting with my Crosman 101 often resulted multiple shots because to congealed oil interfered with the hammer stroke. I learned quick to degrease the gun and use powdered graphite for the cold season.

I agre with Avator to a point. To me classic styled wood and blued steel. I see some wooden stocks that are over the moon that I would not call traditional, usually on PCP type guns. Traditional can be a springer, gas piston, pump up, or some PCP types, just something along the general lines of say a HW77 or AA ProSport.
