Quick double match report
The PRS match Saturday went well. My Midpack Domination continues!
The NRL22 match today felt a little meh. I came in 4th, but I missed some easy shots.
I'm not going to break down each stage, here's a high-level analysis:
- Elevation was spot on since setting DSF values in the Kestrel.
- Wind is still the biggest points leak. I'm getting more confident with the wind values in the Kestrel but I had two stages yesterday and one today that got wrecked by wind shifts. My focus right now is to come up with strategies to help deal with wind shifts and lulls. I think this is the main thing that separates top tier shooters from mid pack shooters.
- When I have a bad stage, it's dropping 4 or 5 points, not 9 or 10 points. This is progress, but I need blow up stages to mean dropping 2 or 3 points and I need to clean more stages. The match winner yesterday averaged 10 hits per stage, I averaged 7.9. Today the match winner averaged 9.48 and I averaged 8.48.
- I think the sweet spot for this barrel is about 100 to 250 shots. It shot real well yesterday with about 150 rounds on it, but groups weren't great this morning when sighting in. I ran 3 wet patches and 1 dry patch through it before the match to get it clean-ish but not spotless. More study needed on this.
Couple of other things:
I checked with MPA about the chassis that I ordered a month ago. When I ordered the chassis the website said 4-6 weeks lead time. MPA responded to my email saying that it's 10-12 weeks lead time. Then they updated the website to say 10-12 weeks. So I'm disappointed and feeling a little gas lit, but since they are the only game in town for the RAW, I have to just wait and pretend that I don't mind when a company tacks two months onto their delivery time while making it seem like I should have expected this.
I also asked Shooters Global about the Pulse Pro I ordered. Supposedly they are shipping this week. And they sent me a nice email asking me to review the Pulse Pro. I pointed out to them that I would prefer to review it AFTER I receive it. That's just how I roll.
Lastly, I ordered another Tuxing 6.8L bottle from Amazon since I've been happy with the one I bought a few months ago. The bottle arrived without the valve or hose, just the bare bottle. I returned it and I'll try again.
