HW/Weihrauch HW50S - Out of Box

Just received my HW50S from AirgunDepot. After unboxing I noticed this line going around the action area. Almost looks like a tooling mark.

The only other Weihrauch I have is an HW98 and it is immaculate. Curious if this is normal for the HW50S? Thoughts?

I’m probably being a bit critical it’s just going to be a squirrel gun! But still… 😔

Thanks for the knowledge. Got it dialed in now, seems to be shooting lasers! @Mycapt65 you may recognize this setup! If you could refrain from posting your toys for a while the wife would appreciate it! Exactly what I was looking for though! Just got it sighted in before the rain came!

Holy cow! Somebody listened to me. 😉 You'll love it. Just keep your eye centered in the scope to minimize any parallax error. That's an awesome all around outfit.

As Chuck-in-Ohio said, it's a pretty major joint where the fork is brazed Into the tube:

On older guns, HW (and some other makers) made a regular thing of showing it off. This is a Burgo-branded HW 50 from the early 1960's:

And as Mycapt65 noted, on newer guns it can weirdly come and go - these are two otherwise identical Beeman R8's belonging to a friend. Not typical on a gun from the late 80's but there ya go:

Thanks for showing these pics!!! I always wondered what this connection looked like.

The 'de brazed' pic caught me by surprise there....its one I took of a HW35 that leaked from the braze becoming pourous.

It's a bit misleading to say it should be there. The joint of course will be there, but the fact it can be seen suggests poor joint preperation/ cylinder finishing prior to bluing by Weihrauch.....

Thank you JamieUK - apologies as yes, I...uh..."borrowed" your pic from a UK forum a while back, whilst working on a below-par HW 35 myself. It's the best image I've ever seen of that construction detail, and I thought the OP would find it useful to see what's under the joint.

I failed to record (thus instantly forgot) the source at the time. I've re-posted it above with attribution.

No apologies or requirement to reference where it came from at all sir! That's what this, and all the other forums are for....sharing info on what we're passionate about (seeing the photo actually made me smile, it's nice to know that contribution was appreciated....by at least one person 😂) 👍

just aim so you shoot between the rain drops .😊
I shoot in the rain all the time. I'm covered of course. I never noticed a substantial change in POI. I really thought it would. I target shot a 223 at 315 yds in a sudden downpour with no change in POI. I can't explain it but true. wind that often comes with rain is a different story.

I found the same results.
