Good afternoon everyone!! I am thinking I am going to be getting a newTexRex from Air Force. I am just wondering what everyone thinks about the 2 calibers. Would y'all get the 510 or the 457 ans why would you choose one or the other??

That is what I was thinking as well. I have a Texan 457 therefore I have a ton of ammo already!!!!

I have the Texan SS in 457. Works great and I get 3 shots with mine. Good enough to kill hogs at up to 70 yards for me. I think we need all the speed we can get so I prefer the smaller caliber. Still huge amount of lead compared to any rifle round.

I love my Air Force Texan .51Cal, but I have to recommend the 457 caliber simply because the available slug choices are superior, especially when it comes to long range.

Yes, the better selection of Ammo is the selling point for me!! I have a dragon claw that I love but very limited on the ammo!!!!

@Poke-E I’d consider a .457 TexRex just based upon the energy numbers and ammo availability. Anot significant determine factor is what you intend to hunt. If you’re looking at elk and moose, then you may want to strongly consider a larger caliber. For deer And hog sized animals or smaller a .457 TexRex should be able to take care of business. I’d trust it to handle black bear.

@Ezana4CE I decided to get a .457!! I just got it in and out t together last night, shot it 4 times an put it away until I have more time with it!! It kicks pretty good which is not really a problem for me cuz I'm a big guy. One thing I will not make the mistake of is shooting it without ear protection again!!!!!! That thing is LOUD!!! It sounded like a deer rifle going off in the woods on opening day, lol!! I am only planning on hunting deer and hogs with it!! You had a very very valid point though, the type of animal You're hunting should be a deciding factor I never really thought about it like that for some reason!!!! I definitely plan on posting more about it when I've had some time to spend with it!!!! I appreciate everyone advice and feedback!!!
