Field Target & 10-Meter Offhand & Risk/Reward Silhouette - Delaware County PA Field & Stream - Sun. 7 Sept.

Delaware County Field & Stream Association DCFSA
713 Chester Creek Road, Brookhaven PA 19015

Field Target sight-in opens at 07:45 at the Air Rifle Range at the top of the hill.
(Drive past the clubhouse, drive uphill past the shotgun fields on your right, continue to the end of the lane.)

Safety meeting at 08:50, Field Target match starts at 09:00.

The Field Target match (in the ‘Field Target Forest’ behind the clubhouse) has ten lanes, three target per lane, each target shot twice. One standing lane, one kneeling lane. The September 7th course Troyer creeps higher - to 31.9.

AND…10-METER OFFHAND COMPETITIONS!...

Right after the Field Target match (around noon), 10-meter offhand competitions open at the Air Rifle Range.

Each competition has 20 scored shots - using rifle, or pistol, or both!
The targets are standard 10-meter ISSF airgun rifle, and airgun pistol targets.
Ten minutes for twenty scored shots, unlimited sighters.
Use your Field Target gun, or bring a specific 10-meter rifle or pistol, or bring whatever airgun you want (.22-caliber, 25 foot-pound limit.) Modern and/or ‘old school’ guns are welcome…let’s see ‘em shoot!
Any sights/scopes/red dots are allowed…there will be classifications based on equipment.
If you don’t like your first score, you can try it again, and again!

AND…A ‘RISK/REWARD’ SILHOUETTE CHALLENGE!...

DCFSA is again hosting a ‘Risk/Reward Silhouette’ challenge.
This challenge takes place alongside the 10-meter competition at the Air Rifle Range.

There are two silhouette stands: one at 20 yards and one at 30 yards.
Each stand has twenty ‘one-tenth scale’ targets - five Chickens, five Turkeys, five Pigs, and five Rams.
10 offhand shots at 20 yards + 10 offhand shots at 30 yards = 20 shots per challenge.
[4-points per Chicken], [3-points per Turkey], [2-points per Pig], [1-point per Ram].
Multiple shots may be taken at a single target. Targets on each stand can be shot in any order. No shooting jackets, no shooting gloves.
Five minutes to shoot ten shots per stand. (.22-caliber, 20 foot-pound limit.). Piston rifle class & PCP rifle class.
The highest score so far is 45 (out of 70 possible)...can you top that???

The September 7th weather looks WONDERFUL.
Come on out for the next-to-last 2025 DCFSA Field Target match.

One final note…to avoid a schedule conflict with the 2025 AAFTA Nationals at Rockville Fish & Game in Vernon Connecticut…the DCFSA October 5th Field Target match is rescheduled to October 12th.

Fee for all three events…$10.00…easy on the wallet!

The good news…some fine shootin’ was displayed at the Delaware County Field & Stream airgun range today! From rifle & pistol, both paper & silhouette targets were getting whooped from well-placed shots.

The not-so-good news…the rain did not retreat soon enough to hold the Field Target match…dang! At least we had the most-excellent (and roofed) Airgun Range as a shooting retreat during the inclement weather.

Instead of typically doing the Field Target event first, we chose to do the ‘under roof’ events before the Field Target match - so we could wait for the rain clouds to pass. The rain clouds were not cooperating…they did not pass, but got worse as the morning went along! If nothing else, the rain clouds did not give us any wind to contend with.

Along with the shooting, we had some great discussions about AAFTA & DCFSA airgun matches. Hector filled us in on AAFTA club membership requirements (thanks for the details…easy-peasy!) An interesting idea surfaced about holding a regional three-club three-day field target extravaganza, which would attract non-local shooters. George Riley presented an idea to include a 50-yard airgun benchrest event alongside the 10-meter and silhouette events on October 12th. Perhaps these ‘under roof’ events could continue into the non-field-target winter months? Your thoughts???…

And last, big thanks to all who attended today, despite the weather and calendar conflicts with nearby DIFTA and GP matches. (2026 will have less regional field target calendar conflicts.) Double thanks to Trevor for helping set out sight-in targets, and pulling target strings which sadly did not get used today. At least the targets will not have to be re-painted before the next match.

Looking forward to a beautiful fall-color DCFSA final 2025 field target match on Sunday October 12th. Hope to see YOU there!

Here’s the scores…
