Airgun Technologies Agt Uragan 3 compact .22 more silent

I have Agt uragan 3 compact model with 400mm barrel.

Very nice and accurate gun.
But i need get it more silent.

My shooting is mostly for backyard and gun need to be silent.

Short and light gun is also handy and what like use.

I have test stock + moderator adaptor M14x1.25 Female to 1/2UNF-20 + Weihrauh Xl moderator.
Too long setup for short gun and good if can have little more silent.

Also test bare barell + moderator adaptor M14x1.25 Female to 1/2UNF-20 + Weihrauh Xl moderator.
Too much noise.

Today did arrive Huma-Air Modulair Airgun Moderator MOD40 Avalanche moderator and one extra modul
chamber.

It was possible to get it M14x1.25 thread so it can be shorter without any adaptor.
Moderator length can also adjust and it easy to open for cleaning, etc.

With that extra modul it is more silent when without it.
Still too loud, but really nice to adjust that moderator length shorter or longer.

Next need to adjust fps little lower, but not happy to mess up agt factory tunes, because it shoot so well.

Now that stock uragan shoot Jsb hades 15.89gr cal .22 for 930 fps.

I have test more heavy pellets, but they need to too heavy when it is silent.

Target is tune gun for 15.89gr cal pellets and about 880fps.
Hoping that it still shoot precise after that tune.

My other pcp hatsan is tuned to shoot 870 fps and it is very silent.

That uragan 3 can be different to tune what was uragan 2 are.

Is that hammerspring adjusting good way to start for that tune for uragan 3 compact?

Or need to adjust regulator or some else?

I thought my Uragan compacts were loud until I let someone else shoot them. The reason I‘m telling you this is because with all the different things you’ve tried, you think the gun is still loud. AGT‘s are mechanically noisy suckers right next to your ear. That’s why no matter what you screw onto the end of the shroud, the gun sounds the same.

If your gun isn’t quiet with that giant thing you have attached to it in the photo, the mechanical noise the gun makes is playing tricks on you.

Thanks for your answer.
Yes i can hear that there is more mechanical noise from uragan what is comparison that Hatsan bullpup.

That Hatsan was also more mechanical noise at stock perhaps for hammerspring.
After regulator install and tune it 130 bar with hammerspring adjusting that mechanical sound did also lost.

Uragan 2 models have that de-ping sound and that was also one reason to buy uragan 3.

With that longest moderator combo it is most silent.
That agt stock moderator is not necessarily the most silent option and it also quite long.

Shooting Fx hybrid slugs 22 grain at 800 fps uragan was very silent.

Fps speed lowering also make dirrerent for sound so i would like to test how good combo for speed, sound and accuracy is possible to get.
Also hoping that is possible to achieve with quite short moderator.

Yesterday i also did test that Huma-Air moderator for Hatsan.
Test was shoot and remove one moderator chambers at time.
Moderator did work very well even there was only 2 chambers in use. Gun was shooting 870 fps.

Top of picture are startpiece for huma.
Below is agt stock moderator parts.

Gun is now guite silent.
Huma-air moderator is added felt and hammerspring is adjusted for lower fps.
Rifle stock did need make more space for hammerspring bolt.

It shoot now 847 fps, but need to test more how fps stay when shooting more.

Gun is now 55mm longer and weight is +40 gram for stock.
Shorter moderator setup was making more sound.

This is still only after that hammerspring adjust.
Now it was first time shoot 300-110bar with grono.

104 shot for average 844.4fps.
Spead is maybe to big 26.8.

I guess that result is not very bad, but it would be better with tuning also that reg.
I would need reg tune for little lower and then tune hammerspring again.

Pellet what i use is Jsb hades 15.89gr. Target speed is about 840-870fps.

I really would not worry about the spread you saw since it is over more than 100 shots, and from a small air bottle. Although if you did reduce the hammer spring tension too much you might be inconsistently opening the valve. Try for 860-880 fps and see if: 1) The extreme spread is reduced; 2) The accuracy is what you want/need; 3) The sound level is still acceptable for your use. Your shot count will decrease some, but should still be very good. But probably not 100+ shots per fill any more.

That is a good looking gun with your long moderator on it!

I did adjust hammerspring for little more power.
After adjust and testing average was 864fps for 58 shots.

Accuracy is very good.
Sound level is still quite acceptable.

This gun is really super nice and fit hand like glove.

I did also test tune it for 700fps.
Hammerspring bolt did come so much more out of gun.
It would need make so much more space for stock that it can be go through.
So test shooting was not so easy without stock, but gun feel still very accurate and more silent.

I don't know how that uragan 3 regulator can be adjust and how low it can be tune?

Vixen 2 regulator was easy to adjust.

My shooting distance is usual max 35 yard so i did test tune uragan for lower power.
Target was about 700fps with jsb hades 15.89 .22.
Reg was factory settin and hammerspring was about 2 turn open.
It was shooting 864fps

Test numbers
Reg 1/4 turn close and speed was 838fps.

Reg 1 turn close and gun did sound so lo that no need test with pellet.

Little back and speed was 691fps.

Just little more back and speed was 724fps.

300bar -> 60bar??
Only 46 shot and gun sound like small air leak near ear every shot.
Spread was bad and variation at sped was everywhere

Hammerspring adjust did feel it won't make chance for speed or that air leak sound.
Finally i did try open hm about 4-5 turn.
That air sound did disappear.
Had to make more space to stock for that hammerspring bolt.

300bar-> 60bar
127 shot with better spread.

Feels like that uragan 3 is now little more silent that vixen 2 short with same moderator and same fps.

@Silent shot how heavy is your Uragan 3? Some sources show 2.7 kg unscoped, is that right for synthetic stock? Is it comfortable to shoot off-hands? Thinking about buying it, want a light and accurate compact PCP under 2K. Most of compacts have 250mm barrels , Uragan 3 got 400 mm, a big plus for me. I like almost everything except the not so easy adjustments of hammer and regulator.

@ Silent shot.
If noise is of such concern to you be adviced that a different approach as far as moderator is in order.
This truly, if ever, is a game of diminishing returns in as much that moderator efficiency is a matter of moderator vs barrel linearity as that is what sets the limit for moderator through holes diameter. In the end every tenth of a millimeter will help.
The closer to caliber these through holes can be held the more efficient the moderator becomes, it´s just plain physics. This regardless of internal baffle design.

These are chunky little rifles! My synthetic stocked U3 Compact .22 with a compact Vector Veyron scope and a carbon fiber bipod is 10lbs/4.6Kg. It handles well offhand but would be better with the lighter CF stock IMO.

wow this is a lot... My heaviest PCP rifle with bulpup wood, scope and moderator is 4.5 kg., and it is full size. Feels too heavy in my hands. Krale shop info about U3 must be wrong then.
Damn I really liked the look of U3 but I want something under 3.5kg including scope. Back to search I guess. Vixen long maybe. Leshiy 2 350 or 450mm also looks nice though I don't want extra complexity of semi-auto, and it is a bit out of my price range. Don't want to go "used" FX way, I have FX STX liner on Notos bottle conversion and spent too much time making it accurate and not changing POI between sessions. Need a solid build, proof to occasional bumps while hunting.

Krale specs it was also 2.7kg.
Agt manual qive 3.2kg.
My digidal weighing scale did give it 3179g.

It is really comfortable to shoot off-hands.
It fits my hands very well.
Gun is back heavy so that don't feel so heavy.
I also have Vixen 2 (2522g), but Uragan feels much better for all parts.
I also like much more for short bullbub pcp.

Yes, that noise also concern.
Thanks for those good advise.

Some moderator models there is metal plates with hole like "washer" between those moduls.
That kind moderator is easy to chance those "washer" size making those holes different size.

Those huma-air moderators construction is little different.

I also thought a few of my guns were loud, Cricket 22 Uragan 2 @ 22 caliber, RTI prophet 177,22,25, 30 and a few more.
Until I walk away 20 to 30 feet and had my wife pull the trigger, Yep, A gun to the ear is loud....
Mike

Thanks, i also need test it again.
My shooting place acoustic and distace is also little closer.

My uragan 3 setup is 4032g with scope and moderator.
That under 3.5kg setup with scope is not easy for solid bulpup.

Vixen is light, but not bullpup.

What is real weight for Airmaks Krait?
Somewhere it was 2.5kg.
They are also with cz barrels.
I don't know they quality.
