I retired in November 2022. I used to work in the IT support field at UPS in the Oakland building. We were nonunion non-management hourly employees. I started in October 2000. Thank god I was hired intime to qualify for the pension plan and 401k. I do miss working there, everyday I had to fix the scales at the the UPS facility located on the Oakland Airport.
Did not start collecting social security yet, although I did sign up for Medicare when I turned 65. So now I pay the government and Kaiser for barts a, b, c, and d.
Nowadays I volunteer as an RSO twice a week at the range.

Retired 7/28/17.
Was a Class A-Setup and Operate in the Turn Dept. for a Bearing manufacturer.
Worked the on multi spindle automatics.
Now I tinker on air guns. Happy!

I retired the first time in 2005 with 35 years at AT&T. The retired a second time at age 72 after 14 years as a certified personal trainer in local gym. I'm now 78 and have been doing airguns for about 8 years.

Today is the first day of not being an auto mechanic. I still work full time but in a training and research capacity. I don’t have to fix cars any more.
I started working on cars at age 12 with some older guys that used a garage behind my Grandmothers
House. I started work as a European auto tech and fabricator at 18. Now I repair and calibrate driver assistance systems like radar and cameras. My only interest in cars is money for Motorcycle racing. I actually hate cars and hate the automotive industry. So after fifty years I’m finally free. First I sold all my special tools and bought my HFT-500. Then yesterday the company picked up my big truck. So not only don’t I have to go out and repair wrecked cars I don’t have to go out at all. I work from home.

The cities give you what it might cost % to live there also State and by county taxes , 12 years ago when i retired Alabama had the best retirement for the money , You can also check on Air gun laws / hunting through the agencies listed in the Magazine.

CONGRAT !!!!! It takes about a year or more to actually retire . for that first year your running around (time wise) like your still on the job but a lot of that is Stuff you "need "to do . Took me about three years to finally wake up in the AM and lay there thinking "what do i want to do today " . ENJOY !

Zero turn mower top speed 8 MPH Too bumpy ! slower more fun . Front lawn 75 x 310 also sometimes shooting Field Target Range .

Congrats to all that have retired! I pulled the pin almost 2 years ago on 10/27/2023. 45 years as a journeyman mechanic in local Ford dealerships. Still trying to get adjusted to the stress-free life.

Retired 16 yrs. now, 10 yrs. US Navy, then service division of a medical electronics company. House and both vehicles paid for. Loving the quiet life in the country.

Same thing no dept (by selling $$$ house up north and paying everything off , buying southern home for cash ) 12 years later no debt , 0 interest if paid off monthly credit card , easy to do ! Air gunning buy most anything !

6 years retired. Did not know retirement would eat up all my time,still busy. But I like being busy ,keeps you going. Now need to make time for hobbies. Kids still think I'm here for free labor and semi skilled ( I am lol). Takes a bit to get used to being retired, I now have time to plan my days.

I officially retired December 9, 2022. It didn't actually sink in until late December 2024, the stress and trauma had been that severe.
I've lost almost 80lbs, sleep without a CPAP, totally changed my eating habits and even picked up a part-time job at a local gunshop.
My sleep pattern is still messed up though - typically waking up between 3 and 4 am for the day.
It's still a process.

My first retirement was in 2008 at 51 yrs old, then went back and finally retired 10 years ago at 57 yrs old, then started an HVAC business that I still run today at 68. I only work when I want to and have plenty of free time. This is the best time of my life. I work and really enjoy it, then I take a week off to do other things, any schedule I want. It's great, plenty of time to shoot.

Retired at 62 and have been working harder ever since 11 years later. Just couldn't do those 195 mile round trip commutes anymore.
