Daisy Winter project Daisy 1000

I was expecting a little project restoring my 1934 Buck Jones. Fortunately all it needed was a good clean and the missing shot tube. And now it’s done. Along the way I did a lot of research looking for a shot tube. And after restoring my Buck Jones and a 1894 I kinda like playing with them because they are very inexpensive. And fun to shoot in my 15 foot workshop range.

So I bought this one on eBay. Its a 1958 Western Auto modle 1000.

It looks great but does not shoot . Listing says bb goes a couple inches. So the barrel is clear any how.

Can’t wait to get it apart.
Plan to contact Cobalt 327 when he gets back from vacation and get a spring, seals and a big bore air tube . Looking to hot rod and repair this one. But leave all the cool paint work alone.

you would need a PHD to keep up with all the Daisy BB rifle
the one was made from 1965 to late 1980 so says the Blue Book
:) .... yes, I suspect .... but the one I found looks pretty much exactly like this one ... I'm hopeful for some additional images of the graphics on it and some thoughts on the proper "color" (as best as the Iowa Airgunner can discern) ....

Superb ... mine is precisely like this one but without the quality of the graphics ... they are discernable but worn. I'll take some photos and post. Did you restore the graphics or just clean it all up ?

John
I bought this gun to completely restore and have a custom stock made. But when it arrived I was shocked. It is in museum grade condition.
I fixed the seal and put in a safe dark place.

Just out of curiosity, how far can someone hop up one of these old Daisy BB guns. And by hop up I mean how fast can you get the BB’s moving? I have zero clue on how these even work. Is it a spring acting directly on the bb?
With an oversize air tube a cobalt 327 main spring and a model 25 shot tube my model 111 40 red Ryder is shooting 365 fps.

It is a sealed air chamber and the spring drives a sealed piston .

I actually think the price of Daisy BB guns is going to go stupid high and then go back down. So I buy them cheap and broken. If you polish the metal to a mirror finish then use a propane torch to carefully heat the metal you get a really good blue black finish. So a rusted 10 dollar yard sale gun can be made to be worth 100 dollars after a little fun work. You ain’t getting rich on BB guns. But they are fun to fix up.
