Airforce Airforce Condor .25 cal newbie

I am planning on buying an Airforce Condor .25 cal in the next two weeks and this will be my first Airforce PCP ever. I have been into PCP'S for around 5 years now and have a decent understanding of them. However, Airforce Airguns are foreign to me. I really enjoy modifying airguns and learning new things. I have a basic understanding of some of the things that can be done but I would really appreciate any advice for someone in my position. Anything from little hacks, modifications, things to avoid and maintenance.

Good choice and as for mods & hacks, Airforce guns are really a blank canvas for those that like to tinker.

First off, if this is your first Airforce guns, they are loud, so a good moderator was my first must have on mine.
There were a lot of other things I have done, but I have a TalonP and some of my mods don't apply to the Condor.

The single biggest performance improvement was to the trigger. Airforce triggers are kind of awful, so I installed an Ultra Match Precision trigger kit. That was a huge improvement.

Next biggest improvement for me was a MadDog stock. That really transformed the gun for me, but I recommend you just shoot a few hundred rounds in the stock configuration first and decide for yourself on that one. It does cost almost half of what the gun does and adds a little weight, but does eliminate any hold sensitivity and looks really good.

I do also have a Talon Tunes Hammer with slap mod and metal breach. I cannot say how much that helped since I did those before even trying the gun with the stock parts, but I figure that the aluminum breach has to be an improvement over the stock plastic part.

I also did the O Ring behind the top hat thing. That did seem to improve shot count somewhat

As for maintenance. these guns require very little. I do use. a little silicone lube on the breach o rings when I clean the barrel.
I did also buy two O Ring kits when I got mine, but have yet to need them in the four years I have had mine. I did have a gauge start to leak and later a fill port, but thats it, and both were quick easy fixes that did not break the bank

These are such simple and reliable guns, and much more accurate and fun than I ever expected when I bought mine.

Best source for AirForce upgrades is Trajectron.com in India. They ship DHL so parts arrive in about a week after ordering. Usually $17 shipping.

High Flow Kit when available is best.

Huben Power regulators are highly recommended. The MAX-ATH and MAX-TOPHAT have 50cc plenum. If you buy the Tophat you do not need the valve upgrade.

I dont know if the OEM valve are still threadlocked to the bottle. If they are then you will need a new bottle to go with a regulator.

That factory Airforce Slug Gun in 22 and 25 should have plenty of power...I have a custom condor 22 cal with doug noble valve..I have some good shooting 39 grain cast slugs that shoot good in it..IF you get a 22 cal PM me and i will send you some... I bought a plastic moderator on ebay for $30.00 and it works great light and quiet...

Agreed about product selection at Trajectron
Very wide and innovative
However, their pricing is a bit high, even for the U.S. market.
Couple that with the threatened 50% tariff and things could get expensive real fast.
And that's a shame!

I agree about the SS version.
A regular Condor becomes a broomstick/Kentucky long rifle after you put a moderator on it. The SS variation is quiet out of box, and much more reasonable in the total length department.

Hey, there are many reasons why I want to get an Airforce Condor. I have bought many upwards if not over 2k PCP'S only to end up selling or trading them down the road and I love the price point of the airforce airguns. Also I hear that they are very easy to work on, have loads of power and caliber changes are easy. Currently I have an AGT Uragan King in. 30, an AGT Vixen Long in .22 and an RTI P3 in .22 cal. I want a .25 cal for many reasons, one of them being I have a bunch of slugs and pellets from prior .25 cals I have had. I have always been curious of airforce airguns and I have never had a big bore PCP. Eventually I will buy a texan but if its possible with this Condor I would ultimately like to have a .257 cal barrel and a .22 cal barrel as well as the .25cal. I have an idea of what mods are out there, I just need to learn the terminology and how the gun works. I dont really know what top hats are or how they work. I know I might eventually go to a 300bar bottle. All of my guns now are 300bar fills and I have an extra 700cc bottle. I just got my first compressor (GX CS4-I) and I absolutely love it! I love tinkering with airguns! My AGT Uragan King has some mods. I bought the CF stock that comes with the Uragan 2 because it fits just fine. I purchased a 50X48X500MM CF tube for the shroud and threaded the internals for the Donny FL Emperor onto the barrel and re-felted it. Its a little longer but its quiet and theres no clipping. I did more or less the same thing with my Vixen but threaded a Ronin on the end of it. Now its a Vixen XL lol. I still have the original regulators in the AGT'S. I did buy huma regs for all of my AGT'S including a Vulcan 3 .30 cal I had but for whatever reason I prefer the stock regs. I still have those huma regs and some misc parts for the AGT'S, I even have a huma reg tester I dont need lol. It looks like you have one of the Talon Tunes moderators, how well do those work and what do the internals look like? PCP'S are my drug of choice and I dont have any friends that are into PCP'S. I got into them like most people did. I have always liked firearms and still do but when I got into PCP'S it took over. I am counting the days till it cools down here in AZ so I can enjoy shooting my little heart out. My name is Pete by the way. Thank you for the advice, I really appreciate it!

Hey, thank you! I never heard of that site before. I have been wondering if I should get an in-line regulator and just shoot tethered, or whether it's a better idea to install a regulator. I will read up on what top hats are and what their function is. If I dont need to buy a high flow valve and that will do the trick then I'm all for it. I want to eventually get a .257 barrel for it as well. When I do caliber changes and I go up significantly in grain weight, I would like whatever set up I have to be able to perform with minimal changes. I have never done a caliber change with any of my PCP'S and have always been curious on how the change in grain weight effects the performance. For instance if you have a .177 and the rifle is capable of a .35 cal barrel. Is it more or less the increase in port size along with the obvious reg and hammer spring adjustments that allows it to perform as it should?

The reason I am leaning towards that particular Condor is because of the slug barrel and the fact the its threaded so I can throw whatever moderator I want on there. I think overall length on the Condor is 38 inches. So if I threw one of my longer moderators on it like the STO Sarissa on it, total length would be 48 inches. I have heard thag the ss models are very quiet. I am curious of what the internals of that ss shroud consist of. Are you able to modify it at all and do you know if you can modify a condor to be an ss that originally wasn't?

I do have a Talon Tunes moderator on mine, and it works quite well, but it will not work on the Condore pictured in your opening post. The Talon Tunes moderator replaces the end cap on the shroud of guns where the barrel is shorter.

There are no threads to attach directly to the barrel.

as for the top hat, that is the part on the end of the valve that engages with the breech. The two piece top hat has different size orifices available to fine tune the volume of air from the valve.

Many put an Oring behind the top hat. If you look closely you can see the brown O ring that I used on mine. So the way Airforce guns work is that the hammer is in front of the breech. When the trigger is pulled the hammer strikes the breech and th breech then transfers that energy to the top hat opening the valve. The O ring slightly liimits the travel of the valve stem and also aids in rebounding the valve to close it. Basicall shortens the dwell depending on the O ring used. I used fuel crossover O rings from Old Cummins diesel engines. They worked out perfectly for me.

Alright, definitely makes more sense to me now. The barrels have no ports and the pressurized air takes a straight shot from the top hat to the breach. Changing the size of the tophat is similar to enlarging the port on other PCP'S. I know that the talon tunes moderator won't work on the Condor I'm considering buying. I was just curious as to what the internals were like and how well it works compared to other typical suppressors or perhaps the ss versions airforce offers. I'm not dead set on that particular condor. I'm interested in it because of the slug barrel and because the end is threaded. I would prefer not to have a gun as long as one from the civil war, however I do plan on shooting it from a bench or my tripod. I have been trying to find videos or images online of the internals of the ss condors just so I can get an idea of how it works and same with the talon tunes one you have.

I have never actually had my Talon Tunes moderator apart, but it is pretty effective. My Talon P is a bit louder than than my RTI Prophet, but the Airforce gun is quite a bit louder unsupressed than the RTI in the same state. They are both .25 cal also.

For the RTI I have two supressors. A 0DB that I use when I have my .22 LR barrel installed, and Carbon Fiber RTI Hush moderator that I use with the .25. They both do about the same job in taming the bark.

Prices are are a bit high, less than Talon Tunes, more than AliExpress. I buy my tophats and bottles from AliExpress, reg from Huben and the hammers, springs, adapters, fittings from Trajectron.

Barrels I buy from who ever has the cal and length I want.

Nice, thank you for the pics! I have both of the RTI Hush suppressors, in my opinion usually moderators that have a higher volume do better for sound reduction. However the quietest one I have is the STO Sarissa. I highly recommend those things. I have the smaller Donny FL modular on i think its the Ryu, the impulse 1350, some of the wolf k baffle ones and some others as well but STO does a good job. They also have selections for low, med and high air flow internals.

That model comes with almost every thing, the only thing that is needed is the 260mm dovetail to picatinny adapter for the scope .. from ebay.. a shorter picatinny adapter for the bipod, ebay even have the BKL aviable for like $30 .. a wider grip, factory is to small for me . Luthar make a great inexpensive grip $25 ... power wise that gun should shoot 55gr in the 900+ fps , if not and is something you want or need .. then order the factory talon p valve , and buy the Trajectron adapter for m18x1.5 for the talon p valve.. Trajectron has no valve more powerful than the factory talon p valve..And order a one pice hammer to eliminate the second steel factory weight, either 70gram but no more than 85gram with the factory spring no need to upgrade thr spring unless you’re planning to shoot 65gr altaros.. the top hat is the only weaker point in the factory AF valve if they are going to be hammered hard with a heavy hammer, but that is a easy fix with the TT one pice top hat.
