That's awesome & it makes me glad that you're on the rebound. Keep it up.
My anecdotal observation from observing older people...especially guys is that the one's who often make it to the finish line best cognitively are the one's who have at least one pastime that they are passionate about. I say dudes because if they aren't into coffee clutching they often lack the social network to be mentally stimulated on a regular basis. Once you plunk down for good in that Easy Boy it's not so great for you both physically & mentally.
The sharpest old guys I know are always the one's who are into model trains or some other nerdy but cool activity. A peer of my dad (who didn't do so well) is still going strong in his wood shop collecting antique American style hand saws.
