FSA N50 Results - 8/16

After a complete reshuffle of our 2025 benchrest schedule, we finally held our first National 50 match on Saturday 8/16.
The weather was hot early and hotter later. On one hand, the lack of wind was good for shooting, but not so good when you could break a sweat standing still. I think the temperature peaked around 91-92 degrees, but it felt much higher when the air was barely moving. The first 2 cards were shot in nearly windless conditions. Flags were either not moving or there was so little wind that they pointed in different directions, propellers barely spinning and with some slight twitches of the tail. The third and final card saw the wind pick up a bit and while it never blew very hard, it had some sneaky shifts and up/down drafts.
We had nine participants including two shooting their very first N50 match. As an indication of the mild conditions, we had 5 shooters shoot 247 or higher on their first card. We had a wide variety of pellet calibers represented, with two shooters using .22, two using .25 and four using .30. Joe Polanco came out of the gate with a 250 and as if that wasn’t good enough, he shot another 250 on the second card. A little into the third card and there was some anticipation of a potential 750 score, but the winds picked up and it cost Joe 3 points. He finished first by a comfortable margin with an excellent 747 45X. Ten points behind, in second place, was Ryan Spanagel shooting a very nice 737 26X. Tim Swan followed 2 points behind Ryan in third with a 735 34X. We had one shooter, Hugh O’Donnell, in the Factory Rimfire class. He shot a 707 21X in his very first N50 match.
Instead of having a second N50 match, we chose to get a little practice in for the Pyramyd Air Cup Gunslynger event. We hauled out our 2 lanes of RX targets and ran head-to-head match ups until everyone had enough shooting for the day.
Thank you to everyone who attended and please make sure you thank all our sponsors. Give Donny FL, Hawke Optics, High Pressure Pneumatics, Predator International, and Baker Airguns a call if you need anything air gun related.

Thanks! What a fantastic overview and in-depth look
I do have a question and I can’t seem to be able to find the answer. Perhaps you folks could help us out.
I shoot for the group of other disabled Vietnam, Combat vets who enjoy sitting around BS to each other about what happened when we were over there and sea stories on the “huge”bass they caught. We plink and have some competitive shoots with in our group , bench rest at 52 and 100 yards.
Could someone please tell us what we can get official 50 yard and 100 yard AIR gun targets?
I talked with the rep several times from a well known vender that holds an annual Cup competition, about where they get their target for their competition. The rep was very helpful. The first time I called and said he’d check with the higher ups to find out what he could. When the next talk to him he said they didn’t know where they came from. They couldn’t figure that out? Come on. I’m not trying to sell nuclear secrets to the Chinese. All we want is some official targets for 50 yards and 100 yards. We sure would appreciate any help on links to go purchase them.

Thanks again for your everything. Congratulations to your club and all their hard work.
Stay to hlow, keep moving and don’t bunch up,

The 100y targets are tough. Skout might sell theirs, Utah might sell theirs, and someone in the NE area was printing and selling them as well. They are pricy though. We went to a local printer and got the price down to around $1 or so each but you have to buy a bunch. It might be worth buying a few to try and then having your own printed for long term.
