CPHP Question

Does anyone know if Crosman used the “same” press/die from the two left American made tins? I’m hoping the same press/die but different printing on the American tins.

Crosman ? You mean gamo ..lol

Well there kinda rough but i guess / hope growing psins but im doing ok with the gamos hp in .22

It does seem like there trying to set up and duplicate the USA design or dies in .22. The hollow point hole looks a tad deeper then the old USA ones but its so slight a difference.

The .177 gphp ( gamo premier hollow point). Are the same as daisy ones .

They shoot just as good fif me as well

I know that but I was wondering if the dies were the same when they changed the painting of the tins. I did compare the pellets from the 2 tins but to me it some looks like it can be from the same die but some other pellets, for sure not the same die. I wonder if it’s just manufacturing inconsistency.

I said before i thought its funny gamo could shut down usa manufacturing move it to spain set it up and make pellets to ship back her for less and profit . Then add tariffs on top ..

But ya there almost a exact copy of the USA but the hollow point hole is just a little different . Shape style weight pretty much a copy .

I guess only gamo knows what there up to and doing .

I figured at most they'd move from skanky New York to there home usa base in Arkansas. Not to spain ..lol

As long as there staying affordable in walk in Walmart and still shoot well i dont care overall. Crosman done themselves in ,so ...

I still have to find a tin of the Spain made hollow points. I only found the magnums dome pellets. I’ll be doing some testing of my own. Hopefully I’m as lucky as you with the groups. thank you.

Good luck and enjoy!

I shot 10 round groups at 13 yards today. The American made CPHP and Magnum dome shot very well. The Spain made magnum dome had a couple fliers. Not good at 13 yards… but I was shooting it at 1037fps 😂. None of my airguns are tuned low enough for these light pellets.

Ya, the spain ones i see a bit rough and i do see a few more flyers with them. When seating in the lead you can kinda tell by feel its not going to be dead on ..

I bought a tin of Spanish made CPHPs at a local Walmart a month or so ago for $8. Seems like a reasonable price to me. They did not shoot as accurately as a couple old partial tins of American made Crosman domed, however. As a possible explanation of why I looked at weight and head size. There was a lot more head size variability in the Spanish made CPHP. I mostly shoot targets and CPHP are not good for targets in my guns but they are "minute of squirrel head" accurate.

I have shot nearly 9,000 CPHP 14.3 gr .22 in the last (3) years, but our shooting is onto metallic silhouettes, at distances to 160 meters, typically with significant wind. Not the best to evaluate pellets. I also push them near to 1,000 FPS, ditto on accuracy.

Until recently, the pellets were of the center type, shifting to the left type, and I just recieved (4) tin of the right type. Mine are Hollow Point with the label in place of the "Ultra Magnum" in the photo.

I didn't find significant difference between center and left, even when sorting by weight. but haven't started to sort the right hand type. I will report on that ASAP.

I have noticed that the coating/surface shine appears to be different between the types, but have not tried to evaluate differences in hardness/alloy.

Perhaps someone has looked into that?

Only hardness test I've done is that i hit steel and hear a nice arcade "ding" report . 🥴

We were at the range, yesterday, 95 F 20% RH which is very hot and very dry for us. Every gun shot high due to the thin air, of course, but we were plagued by strong, gusting winds.

I shot several hundred of the CPHP, US and Spanish. I agree with Jim D and Hatefl McNasty about the fliers, but they did shoot well enough from the (5) .22 PCPs that I took. (4) of them shoot these pellets at 1,000+ FPS, and my Gauntlet at ~850 fps. The Gauntlet and AA S510 Extra seemed to group them better but will need a calmer day to be more certain.

I have decided that sorting the US CPHP reduces the flier rate, significantly, so will try some sorted Spanish CPHP.

I'm curious as to how their weights deviate.

I see that they have an extra-expanding version but unfortunately only one was in the tin.

Yours is the coveted double bonus, intended for deeper penetration. Likely it was designed for pesting those annoying pachyderms in the peanut fields?
