DonnyFL Quick Disconnect (QD)

@greenbeans - How does the STO Falx compare to the Donny Yoko?

The Falx is very quiet on my Ghost, but I heard the Yoko is probably Donny’s best mod, minus the QD.
Generally, I perceive the Yoko a tiny bit quieter. That said, I have one Yoko and 7 Falx, which may tell you something… the Falx is way lighter than the Yoko and does and provides 97% (perceived) of the performance of the yoko in terms of quieting things down. I also like that you can get it with different cores/flows for different guns. Combined with the fact that I can get almost 2 Falx for 1 Yoko make it the clear winner in my book…

I have 6 Reximex Silent Force long moderator. $25 @ Sharg.pl. Tested against a Falx (moderate flow) and a DFL Sumo on 3 .22 and 1 .25 and it was quieter. Only 1" in diameter so no giant sausage on the end of your rifle like the Sumo. I have 2 Falx and it is an excellent moderator. But for $25 the Silent Force just cannot be beat

For the OP .177 the Silent Force short would be sufficient.

Have you tried to remove different sections of the Yokozuna? Making it shorter will change the harmonics.

My point is simple. You are experiencing clipping and the cause is that the moderator bore is not in line with the barrel. You don't know that because you have no way to detect it. Hence the suggestion of using a test rod. Having a test rod is super convenient and easy to use. It should be used every time a moderator is mounted to a gun. If you own a moderator, you need a test rod. There are many ways that can skew a moderator out of barrel alignment. This misalignment thing is the primary reason moderator manufacturers use over large bore clearances, because they do not want customer complaints. These large bore clearances really hurt the silencing function. If everything was in perfect alignment, you only need a few thousands of clearance. If you doubt me, measure the moderator bore size yourself.
well there's actually a very easy way to check for clipping..if it is high power air gun you will have at least marks on the finish inside the moderator of not pieces missing.. even a good Donny FL shogun..
another way is to shoot a paper target at close range.. like less than 10 ft..if it is clipping you WILL have keyhole shots in your target because the slugs or pellets will tumble after hitting the moderator..
plus you totally missed his comment that it might possibly be misaligned, not clipping but off center in the oversized moderator bore.. now if you don't think that matters, well then a bad crown won't matter either. but it does..
not everyone has a perfectly sized rod that is perfectly straight.. because if the rod is not perfectly straight or a perfect fit it's worthless..

Mark, as a builder of these things for years, I can tell you that misalignment will cause loss of accuracy and clipping without necessarily leaving marks in the moderator. In previous posts I have offered to make alignment test rods for others. To my knowledge, nobody offers these for sale anywhere. As I stated before, everytime you remove and reinstall a moderator its alignment to the barrel should be checked. It is cheap insurance and it only takes seconds.

I was not aware of your business.. because the rod either needs to be a precision metal or carbon fiber.. I know that they use carbon fiber rods to align the barrel with the magazine on the Huben GK1..
pm me with your contact information please?
also as noted, you said that they might be misaligned and not leave marks, and I would assume that is not a baffle strike but just because it's off center it's going to cause drag on one side more than the other..
another reason why a good centered crown is important for non moderated..
I had a airforce Condor 22 caliber 24" barrel and the Donny FL adapter was not a good fit, so much misalignment that depending on power level it would actually strike the end cap and it was 0.357 on a 22 caliber.. I shimmed it up with aluminum stock.. have lots of different ones since I have a machine shop in the garage.. and then it shot well, but the Donny FL shogun was not any quieter than the Condor SS 22..
