Daystate Delta Wolf - Why isn't it more popular?

IMHO, the most underrated feature with DW is the FACTORY mode, that uses the chrony feedback into the algorithm to maintain set speed, regardless of temperature, pressure or humidity.

I’ve had my DW in .30 since they first came to the USA in 2021. It still works great, simple to tune, and very accurate with both JSB 50.1 and AEA 50.5.

It’s interesting to me that so many shooters go straight to Advanced mode that bypasses the chrony. In that case, why not just buy a Red Wolf or a Ghost? I shot my DW at EBR 2022 on the first day (Thursday). I was shooting JSB 50.1 at 875 fps. That day was sight in, EFT and Steel Scramble. I shot over 150 shots that day with temperature from cool early AM to very hot mid afternoon. For the entire day, my ES was 6 fps. That’s not a misprint - SIX. The gun maintained speed as designed!

That truly is the best feature of a DW yet the majority of users listen to shooters and influencers and go straight to Advanced mode. Sad…

The gun still shoots accurately and reliably. I’m shooting AEA 50.5 currently at 890 FPS. Just a couple weeks ago I was hunting ground squirrels with @Revoman and @Gerry52. Mike spotted a GS at 155 yards. I was shooting bucket and sticks, Hunter FT style. I dialed up the elevation, steadied the gun, and took the shot. Schwack! 155 yards with a pellet is no joke, yet the DW was up to the task. I looked at the chrony display and it showed 890 fps.
The gun should be more popular than it is…
Delta wolf to me is all about that super smooth action and the amazing trigger, both are better than the ghost or anything else for that matter. My epoch has a great trigger and action also, just weighs a ton.lmao

I see you deleted the chrono also, definitely the way to go.
With the SubMOA, it isn't facilitating the use of the chrony. It's no secret that the DW chrony has been the subject of much speculation on if it was causing accuracy issues. I don't need it for sure. I use an FX true ballistics radar chrony for that and I program with the Advanced setting. Not an issue for me at all and as you say, may be "the way to go"!

For me, I will not purchase any sort of firearm or airarm that utilizes batteries, chargers, screens, software, updates or any of that.
To each their own!

There is something to be said about the advantages that a Red Wolf & Delta Wolf bring to the table however! No hammer spring to fatigue. Sublime trigger. Increased lock-time.

After all the pluses/minuses, I still like my Delta Wolf. The thing that irked me the most about Daystate’s follow through was that the Delta Wolf was originally sold as having Bluetooth connectivity, which should have led to some interesting apps to work with it. That never happened and no more mention of that capability.

A simple iPhone/Android app that recorded all shot velocities/averages/SD would have been a good start. Very helpful for tuning. It could have also recorded the plenum pressure for each of this shots. Currently you need to write down each shot to have a record of shot strings.

Just curious what your minimum reg pressure is to push the 50 gr at 890 ? Just curious as mine I believe may be the first 30 that I’ve owned that prefers jsb 50 over 44.75. I shoot them at about 860 at 150 bar. Haven’t tried upping the speed yet so that is why I ask.
I shoot the AEA 50.5 at 890 fps. Reg set at 140 bar. I think those that remove the chrony or keep it but use advanced mode are missing the whole point of the DW. Their loss….
The SubMOA barrels are very good, but they aren’t a drop in replacement for the factory LW barrel. So in order to experience the SubMOA you have to forego the Factory mode.

As far as the chrony affecting accuracy, I haven’t seen that. Not saying people are imagining it, but it’s not something I’ve experienced. My LW barrel in .30 is a polygonal 1:30 twist pellet barrel and as accurate as any other LW barrel I’ve owned, including the .25 ART barrel in my Red Wolf.

I've thought about buying one off and on and was starting to consider it again. I hardly see any posts on them good or bad. Why are these rifles not more popular,? Is it the price, performance, or both?
I just sold mine.

My Delta was a marvel.

Why I sold it?

I found that it was not chosen for the adventures... So:

Unconsciously I used to choose other rifles for the job because I judged them more appropriate.

Then .....

It should be in the hands of someone that would appreciate it without discrimination.

Own a Delta for a couple of months. Wasn't really happy with the accuracy, so I bought the barrel clamp. That worked for me. Accessoires are expensive and customer help from Daystate isn't that great. Shooting the 34 gr in cal .25 at 880 fps with reg on 145 bar on factory mode. Now exploring advanced mode.

Try AEA 33.9gr and 29.5gr too. Nice rig. Yes, I like the barrel clamp for sure.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I have begun using the factory mode more. Actually works really well. Sometimes it takes a bit to bring the speed in check. On my .25 the other day I was using jts 29 gr. Selected 30.86 at 875. It shot the first one at 950. Took 6-7 shots to get down there but did its job. I agree both my .25 and .30 are as accurate as anything I’ve owned. Just have to do my part.

Still have the AIRWOLF & Heliboard combo in .20 cal .... after all the years it still shoots fantastic !!
These newer models wolfs appear just as solid .... great Air guns !!!
Another Air Wolf and MK4 IS owner here both sporting heliboards. Almost ten years on each without a failure, not even an o-ring. Led me to buy a new Red Wolf this year that I love just as much (maybe more).

I guess I am the black sheep here....I love electronics and have a Red wolf that I love. So was curious about how cleaning the barrel on a Delta wolf was so watch the video....after the video... NAH!!...not for me lol 🤣 😆....that's was a pain in the a$$ !!! Anything liquid and electronics just don't mix...

I’ll never buy another “electronic” rifle again. I’ve had three VERY bad experiences with them and at over $3K … never again, regardless of whose name is on it.
