Newbie needing your help regarding Compressor choices

Hi All!
Backstory- Stroke May 22, 2025 has prevented me from using .22 cal break barrel pellet rifle. My pump up pellet pistol is a pain with one hand so exploring PCP Pistol ( Diana Bandit). I’m not sure if I am going to Go All In with PCP as a hobby/obsession once I recover but I need something reliable and easy maintenance. I live in Florida and primary use is squirrel eradicating.

Looking at GX PUMP CS3 PCP Air Compressor vs Air Venturi Rovair 4500.

Which would you purchase or do you have a better option?

Thanks for your help! 😊👍👍

Welcome, and sorry for your health troubles . . .

I don't have either compressor, but the general consensus on the GX pumps is that they are extremely well made with fairly easy maintenance and a robust design.

Generally I don't like to throw out "third options" when people ask for which of two items they should get, but I'll note that the price of the Rovair is more than the CX3, and GX also makes a CS4 that is closer in price to the Rovair (depending on where you get it from) and is more capable than either of your choices. It would be a great pump to have if you end up really getting into the hobby and end up filling tanks too. just a thought . . .

Good luck in whatever you decide to do!

Welcome to Airgun Nation. Sorry to hear about your health, I hope you get well soon. One of the main features I recommend on compressors is AUTO SHUTOFF. This is a very important feature so that the compressor shuts off at the desired pressure.

I recently purchased a GX4 pump and I have been happy with it. I purchased the 3 year warranty just in case.

I suggest the GX3 pump, it has some nice features including AUTO SHUTOFF.

The Diana Bandit has a very small resovoir so the compressor can fill it very quickly. It should provide you with a lot of shooting. A decent red dot will also make the pistol that much easier to aim and shoot.

I am not sure where you are located but there are quite a few shooters and airgun clubs in Florida. A simple internet search should give you some decent results.

Everyone here is helpful and scammers are quickly removed by the admins.

Have fun and get better!

Wishing you a strong recovery. As for the GX compressors, I have 2 GX CS3/ CS3-I compressors and just recently purchased the GX CS4-I. Each of the CS3 units are over 3 years old and have many hours of trouble free service on them. The only thing done to either compressor was a complete relube last year and was easily done at home by following YouTube videos posted by Bill of TargetForge.net. I purchased the CS4 because it is much quieter and a bit quicker to fill my rifles. Hope this helps.

Awesome Thanks! I’m doing Outpatient Therapy 3x a week 😊👍👍. I’m just turned 61 in July (no I’m not overweight & had just gotten back from hiking in Shanandoah national park when my brain got zapped 😂😂)

Thanks and Yes that helped alot!

I've had my Rovair 4500 for about a year now, and it's been trouble free. Did have to get them send a replacement fill whip as the one from the factory had a leak. New one was a different style. I don't use it that often, maybe once a month.
Thank You for the info. :) I will probably use 2-3 times a week unless I like PCP shooting alot!

I have 2 GX Compressors, the CS-4 and L3, both are great and I highly recommend them. If you are only filling airguns with small cylinders, the CS-2 or CS-3 are both good options and are cheaper.

If you purchase direct from GX Pump, use their discount code (GX10OFF) to get 10% off. They also ship free and typically don't charge sales tax, depending upon where you are located.

I use and like a GX CS2. Mechanically it is the same, I think, as the CS3 but it does not have auto shutoff. I would not trust it if the compressor had it so that is not a big deal to me. The CS2 is cheaper (I got my first one for $250 delivered from the GX website using their 10% off code) and more compact. Both the CS2 and CS3 come equipped to run off your car or 120V (using a power supply). I added a little setup to use my 18V Milwaukee batteries for a third power option. The parts to do this were only about $20 on Amazon. You need a battery dock and a 18V to 12V step down converter. I run the CS2 in my kitchen usually and I can watch TV in the next room while it is running. I have to turn the sound up a bit but I can hear the TV.

A CS2 or 3 should pump up a little Bandit in a minute or two.

I have a CS3 and a clone CS1 to which I added an automatic shut-off.

Personal preference, but I don't want a compressor that lacks automatic shut-off. Even if not willing to trust the automatic, the automatic does add a second level of assurance of not being distracted and over pressuring.

Given the stroke component, if weight is an issue, the CS3 is a featherweight compared to the CS4 or many other compressors.

I went the route of SCBA tank and Yong Heng compressors, but the CS3 is much simpler than the additional steps of filling the tank, and avoid the pressure recertification and transporting a pressure vessel in a passenger vehicle. If your range lacks 120 VAC power, or has concerns about compressor noise, could those be factors for you?

I've only had one noise complaint about my CS3, which came from a guy who was shooting a .308 Winchester. Yeah, everyone did a double take and then laughed him down.

The option of 12 volt DC or 120 VAC, has been useful at least twice when power was off at the range.

Please let us know what you finally decide and it would be helpful to know why you decided on on alternative over others.

Auto shut-off is definitely a requirement for me and your bringing weight up really helps (wife 102# and will have to move it for me 🤣)
Fortunately we don’t live in city limits & my backyard is where I’ll be shooting and will run compressor only in house so don’t have to worry about sound 😊👍👍. I’d have to laugh at that guy too !! 🤣😉

I will let everyone know about my choices and maybe it will help out the nex person in a situation like me 😊👍👍.
Thank You for your input 👍👍
