Red-dot sight

I'm a new to air guns, and to this forum. What type of air gun will do the least vibration damage to a red-dot sight? I have a Holosun 403B and heard that a spring piston will destroy a red-dot. A gas ram a little less destructive. And a PCP will do the least damage. I'm getting older and need to shoot with two eyes open. Thanks for your feedback.

I'd suggest contacting Holosun and asking them if your optic will hold up to a springer.

HPA-CO2-SSP-MPP will not hurt a scope or red dot the jury is out on every red dot not holding up
the one you mention seems like a nice unit at a 2mm dot
i would contact the manufacture, they say under vibration 1000G
I was in the Air Force for 28+ years but not familiar with these acronyms. Please interpret: HPA-SSP-MPP

You will be ok on a pcp. Ive had one on a 50 cal for over a year and it holds zero perfectly.

@Mark B - Please interpret: HPA-SSP-MPP

HPA = High Pressure Air = PCPs.

SSP = Single Stroke Pneumatic = Pistols and rifles that are one cock, one shot with an air resovoir.

The P17 is an excellent example, everyone should have one. Very affordable SSP pistol with an amazingly good trigger. Direct copy of the much more expensive HW40A.

MPP = Multi-pump pneumatics = Sheridan Streaks / Crosman 760

It's not so much the choice of your airgun (as you should be able to choose the one you want and sight it up accordingly) but the type of Red dot you buy.
After the last 10 years I'm pretty much done with Micro Reflex. They promise so much, being compact, good looking and having no effect on balance, but I've since broken every single one of them regardless of the outlay, cheap, or expensive.
Going inside my last Hawke micro, I think I found the issue.
It appears they glue the little light emmiter directly to the x/y adjustment stalks which in turn are screwed to the outside adjustment screws.
The light emitter either becomes detached altogether, or shifts zero.

This never seems to happen with look through the scope, tubular models which are built similar to rifle or pistol scopes. Some now reaching a lifetime of service as these were the original type from the 80s.
The Hawke 1x30 has proved indestructible.

Don't some red dots attach directly to the slide of a say glocks? I'm sure they'd handle an airgun.

^ That. There are many dot-sights being mounted on semi-auto handgun slides. I imagine that any one of those would be robust enough to use on a spring-piston airgun.

Cheers,

J~
