HFT Rifle Raw Micro vs BRK Carbine

Hello there,

I am getting into HFT and have narrowed the choice to these two. The reason is that I am now interested in shorter length airguns and would prefer something that I can take around easily and shoot outside of the competitions.
The BRK is much more expensive, any of you can compare the two guns for HFT? For example some negative feedback for lack of adequate cheekpiece adjustability, but I dont know how that compares to the RAW.

The Micro has an 8.5” barrel and the entire gun is designed to walk around with while hunting. It is very light. The BRK Ghost Carbine has a barrel length of 17” (2x the Micro), but since it is a bull pup it is short overall but not as light as the Micro.
I’ve done a lot of testing with the Micro and other RAWs, and I would lean towards the Mini for Field Target because it has a 15” barrel and it is more stable than the Micro IMO due to its slightly higher mass. You can make it shorter by adding an AR folding stock if you like. Can’t do that with the BRK. I think the RAW Mini and the BRK Ghost Carbine are more apples to apples.
If you want to hunt, definitely the Micro. With a folding stock it is VERY VERY pack-able. If you want to shoot FT and sometimes shoot squirrels or rabbits, definitely the Mini. The trigger and valve and action on the Micro and the Mini are the same, so you get all that RAW reliability and velocity consistency. And did I mention that RAW trigger? Like glass!
It all comes down to your purpose. Choose the gun that fits the majority of your purpose well, not one that does ok at each one. FT is a competition and you will do best with a gun suited for that purpose. The Mini or the Brocock could be that gun. The Micro is better for walking around in the woods and sniping varmints.

Absolutely agree with above as in the "Micro" is not even close to ideal as a FT rig, where the Mini is superb at the task.
* the concept of a small chassis PCP w/ 15" barrel is so appealing, many of us have adopted older THEOBEN pcps into such rigs  (y)
Butt stock on and an LDC you have a very capable carbine hunter or FT rig. No stock or LDC a legal AAFTA pistol .... mix and match parts and pieces to make it a set up you wish it to be ... PRICELESS

Thanks, I have heard good things about the RAW trigger. Barrel and Trigger for me are the first two I look at. I think I will go for the Mini.
Where do you guys order your guns from? There are dealers that dont charge tax according to their state law, when sell to out of state. I previously ordered from Utah and they didnt charge tax but now they are charging.

OK, I just went to order the Mini and remembered why I wasnt considering the Mini. It does not come in 0.177 and I am limited to under 20 fpe
OOF I forgot about that. You can order a 20fpe Pistol from RAW's website, add your own stock and a moderator and bingo bango boom. The pistol has the same 15" barrel as the Mini but comes in .177. It is a single shot and has dovetails. Those are the only real differences to the Mini rifle.

You could also call RAW directly and ask them for a Mini rifle or an LRT rifle in .177 and 20fpe. Tell them Jeff Cloud sent you.

Years past one could order a custom configuration ... it still might be possible ? and if so be prepared to wait a spell on it getting built ( No near instant gratification on custom builds  )

I was considering a RAW TM1000 Pistol as an alternative to the RAW Mini as I also want one in .177. I’m going to use it for silhouette shooting. I wish they just made the Mini in .177 I don’t think I’d mind not having a magazine. I do most all of my shooting, including hunting, with a single shot tray already anyway. The TM1000 pistol with some type of precision adjustable butt stock and the 500cc bottle would be a nice outfit for offhand silhouette shooting I think.

I would call him, hopefully he can build a Mini in .177 and then if you wanted, have someone that makes after market magazines for RAW like QDFOX and have him print some for you 👍. He made/printed smaller older 17mm magazines for my older HMx in .22.

Issue with the mini ... TOO SMALL A BARREL DIAMETER !!!
If one wishes to really have a shooter and have future & greater re-barrel potential stay with a receiver style that takes the 16mm barrels !!!

Call The Master Martin at Airguns USA, tell him what you’re thinking and he’ll get you sorted pretty quick. He did this pistol/rifle setup for me including one of his custom grips. If not for a marginal operator it is capable of winning in HFT😂

Scott, I thought the Micro had the smaller diameter barrels and the Mini was just a shorter full size with different valving, but, I am probably wrong as usual! 😂👍

I may have spoke wrong too ? I know one of them has a soda straw barrel & matched receiver. Absolutely did not like seeing that !!
