Tom Gaylord has said that people think that HW77 and HW97 have the same output, but in reality the 77 puts out up to a foot pound more KE. He then illustrates how the 77 was designed to be a magnum that got dialed down to make it more manageable, while the 97 was designed as a 12 fpe gun that was then dialed up. Logically, that shouldn't make a difference per se, but Gaylord didn't offer a meatier explanation. It's stronger than my 26mm 97 yet the 77 has less recoil movement seen in the scope.
To be sure I just used acetone on mine and it's fine. Obviously don't get any on the stock. Will that take the finish off of the catch/sight?
Thanks, Ron. Off topic but what spring and seal are you using? To be sure I just used acetone on mine and it's fine. Obviously don't get any on the stock.
I'm running a regular 97/77 Vortek PG4 delrin kit and a Vortek VAC seal. Thanks, Ron. Off topic but what spring and seal are you using?
In the future if it comes loose, it really needs a day to fully cure. I'm glad it worked out for you. I'm big proponent of what I call "chemical warfare". Using the right chemicals properly can make your life immensely easier. Using them wrong (as many do) only leads to aggravation.Ron, youāre a genius. Put about 35 shots through it and it stayed locked up. Never used a wicking loctite before and I was NOT prepared for how quickly it expanded and started to cure beneath there. Assembly was moved forward a little when I applied and I had to hammer on it hard to get it back to position. And that was in maybe 90 seconds from application? Thank goodness for wooden blocks and rubber mallets.
That's funny you could of look at any site on this and found that fix easy .. lol.. sadRon, youāre a genius. Put about 35 shots through it and it stayed locked up. It cured 24 hours before I shot it. What Iām saying is in about 90 seconds it had expanded and filled the gap enough that I had to hammer it into the proper position with a wooden block. Obvious answer is have it in place BEFORE using the Loctite. Wasnāt expecting it to do that in 90 seconds, but it did. All good.In the future if it comes loose, it really needs a day to fully cure.
