As @blackdog899 said they (cs4 cs4I inverters) stay on when plugged in.

I have a early version of the JTS compressor (GX CS3) with external inverter. Once the inverter is plugged in the fans start their cooling process. My GC SC3-I with the internal inverter works the same way; once the unit is plugged in the inverter fan starts. Have you reached out to JTS or GX for clarity on you situation?

I have the CS2 and the CS4i. It's the same for both - the inverter runs while plugged in. I just unplug it when it's not in use.

GX saves money by using the the plug as an "on-off" switch. Personally, I believe this practice is hard on the electronics because I believe that the ground should always be securely established before the power supply is energized. Early on, I had some issues with the power supply switching off at odd times. I purchased and installed an in-line on-off switch and the power supply has worked flawlessly since.

I have mine plugged into an outlet strip and use the switch on the outlet strip to power it on and off. This keeps the fan from running 24/7 and also adds a little surge protection.
