Airforce The Last Airgun Standing: Talon P in .25

I’ve finally simplified my air gun setup. The Talon P in .25 caliber is now my only air gun, and honestly, it’s all I really need.
I don’t get out in the field as much as I used to, so when I do, I want something reliable, compact, and effective. The Talon P checks all those boxes. Its small 200cc tank only fills to 2400 PSI, which means I don’t need a massive support system to keep it running. An 18 cu ft tank and a GX compressor are more than enough to keep me topped off, even in the field. .25 cal is, in my opinion, the sweet spot for ground squirrels and small game. And just in case the air gun ever acts up, I always bring a rimfire along as a backup to keep the hunt going. I kind of always knew I’d end up here—parting ways with all the other gear and just keeping the one air gun that really works for me. No more 74 cu ft tanks, no more unnecessary gear. Just a reliable setup that lets me focus on the hunt. Less is more these days. And the Talon P gets it done.

I can appreciate the facts that lie within your post lol . I took a moment to look back at my life ( memory lane ) and found it hits home with me as well . I have very often in my past found myself in the same scenario. For a quick example = Boats , started with a big pontoon then a bass boat then a johnboat and finally a kayak haha. another is tractors first a big on then a medium sized one then a compact (not a subcompact ) . Same with hunting Fancy firearms then a crossbow next a compound and then a recurve . Same with vehicles and home and so on . It seems to be a real pattern in my life :whistle:. I could keep going but will save everyone's time and stop there.

I am glad you found the one for you . I am close but have not arrived yet . I am sure it will come down to a simple 2 in the end. A huge improvement from over 20, I would think any way. I cant see myself with just one yet .

I agree it is a great start for the new fellows as well for sure .

I would say the only thing I would want an excess of now is dirt every other adventure seems to fall back to a more simple base grounded scenario in what works for me as well .

I will have to admit it was and is a fun journey getting there and trying to figure it all out .

Thank you Mike for that pause and reflection your post made me think of . Again it is and was a fun and interesting Journey for most things for sure LOL .

+1 on your thoughts Mike. My Airforce Escape UL fills that same niche for me. I have both the .22 and .25 barrels and swap them based on off season and on season. A 2300 psi fill will give me 18 shots at 40 fpe average in .22 cal and 10 shots at 60 fpe average in .25 cal. My buddy tank is a converted Condor tank with a fill station attached and will refill the Escape in the field at least twice.

I have recently noticed 50% off sales of Airforce rifles from some vendors which makes me wonder if Airforce is about to release some new rifles in the near future?

I will not give in to a newer version no thanks lol. They’re really wonderful guns with awesome warranty

Even when o know that i can't be a one gun man. After having n tested some hi end pcps i came to the reality that from this hobby I like casting n shooting high BC bullets, and the only way I could do it drama free is with AF guns.. so those are my keepers .. n i would really sell the others pcp but the loss is way to much .. I might sell them later if a new really nice gun comes out with the correct twist for those new heavy .22 slugs. Until then my AF will do equaly fine ..

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the AirForce pcp. Hear where you are coming from, there's certainly a lot to be said about the KISS approach.

I'm trending in the opposite direction. After a whole life of being frugal out of necessity I'm now financially comfortable enough to splurge a bit and enjoy things while I still can. My estate can figure out what to do with my toys. 🙂

I've been looking at the AirForce products for years. Came close to getting one a couple of times but there was always something that put me off or distracted me. Airforce makes a good basic PCP, I might get one yet.

Glad you found your comfortable place!

Cheers!
