If you are shootins pellets, I would go with a Prophet series that has the LR barrel. the P1 or P2
If you are shooting slugs, the RPB barrel will suit you. the P3 ...can get an LR barrel for the P3, but will have to order the barrel from Europe

@ max, welcome to the forum. I have the compact performance in .177. Absolutely amazing little package. The external adjustable reg is nice to adjust on the fly. Mine set up as slug gun. Starlings @ 100 yds no problem. The prophet 3 is just an upgrade from original. You will be happy with either.

To clarify a few things for the original poster. I own two Prophet Performance P1s…

The P1 came with a traditional valve and offered the LR barrel (LW 1:32 twist rate) in only the .22 caliber Performance (full length - 600mm barrel) version.

In the last year of P1 production, RTI introduced a .25 caliber LR (1:32 LW) barrel - again in the “Performance” (full length) model. Prior to that year, RTI used CZ barrels in their .25 P1s.

I don’t believe P1 Compact versions came with LR barrels.

When RTI introduced the P2, the big changes were: (#1) a balanced valve (#2) RPB barrels in both .22 and .25 calibers. The RPB barrels have huge transfer ports and faster twist rates - to enable slug shooting. RPB barrel owners report that the RPB barrels still shoot pellets well.

RTI has offered the same standard LW barrels in .177 and .30 Performance models across the P1, P2 and current P3.

A cool enhancement for the P3 is that the scope rail is adjustable for MOA - so you keep your scope operating in the middle of its elevation range at your preferred shooting distance.

I’ve had my P1 for 5 years and never had any problems whatsoever with it. They are a very simple design, with little to go wrong, and are super easy to tune. Rock solid, reliable with no POI shift. I have both the LR barrel, and newer RPB barrels for mine, and use the newer barrel more often.

I have the P2 Basic in .22. Pre-set regulator at 145 psi (not adjustable) and it was designed for the JSB Monster Redesigns, Deep Skirt. I'm shooting those 25 grain pellets at 865 fps (.25 ballistics!). and its practically hole in hole accurate at 50 yds.

I have the p2 performance with the gen 4 valve and it’s been great. RTI’s customer service is top notch. I wouldn’t worry about buying the older gun if you can get a good deal on it. My only complaint with RTI is that I wish the cocking lever could be swapped from side to side. Other than that, they are very simple guns and are easy to work on.

The P1 Performance Compact can use either 400mm(16") or 500mm(20") barrels. I have a .22 500mm CZ barrel that can easily push 22gr pellets to 890fps when the regulator is set to 125bar. I have a .22 400mm CZ barrel that pushes 16gr pellets at 950fps at 125bar. I have not tried the RPB barrels in my P1s...yet.

The OD of your Leishy 350cc bottle will be the determining factor as to whether you can use it. That and the thread size of the bottle. With the standard 25mm shroud, the max OD you can use is around 61-62mm. You can see the clearance from shroud to bottle in the above pics. The Performance Standard comes with a 500cc bottle that it ~60mm. The 220cc Compact bottle is ~54mm.

You mentioned a different charging handle. I think you're referring to the "push-pull" handle found on the Priest and Priest2? All my P1s have an articulating charging handle.

I haven't needed parts for my P1s (owned since 2022), except for a regulator rebuild kit to cure a "creep" problem. If you do need parts there are multiple stores that sell them..RTI Arms Spain, AirgunHeaven in the Netherlands, and direct from RTI.

I have a P1 Compact .22 performance and it’s rock solid, accuracy that brings a smile to your face every time I shoot it. Never leaked an ounce of air and the regulator has been stable and creep free.

I cannot comment on the P2 or P3, but I did buy a Prophet Performance with the .22LR right after the P2 was officially released. I did this because I liked the simplicity of design and also hoped I could get a decent price on the old tech gun, and that I did.

As for the RPB barrels in the P3's. I later bought a .25 RPB barrel and am using it in my P1. It shoots very well in the Prophet. Both pellets and slugs.

I doubt that parts are going to be a big issue, but who knows. All I can say is that in 3 years and somewhere between 20 and 30,000 shot fired, I have had one leak from the fill fitting and early on a cracked side lever that was replaced with an updated part. Other than tat, I have had zero issues.
I am sure I will have other leaks, but o rings are o rings.

The P1 with the regular valve can be adjusted to very low power settings.
(Example: P1 | Regulator at c. 82bar | .30cal | 26.9FPE with 50.15gr at 491fps)


With the P2 and P3 with the balanced valve I have read that it is designed for higher power, and therefore low power settings might not work as well.
➠ But really, you need to ask a user that has tried this — I have the guns, but never tried a low power setting for any length.

Since we're all talking RTI Prophet here, if you have a lead for a .22cal RBP barrel (600mm), let me know, please.

I have a P3 performance in .25 with an RPB barrel and can confirm that they will shoot pellets very well. A JSB 25.? has thus far set the accuracy benchmark for close range work, 30-50 yards. It's been a while since I bought mine but at the time I think the compact models still came with the slower twist pellet barrels.

Can’t speak to the P3, but the P1 has a transfer port restricter grub screw. It will definitely take a .22 compact below 20FPE. It may be installed by default for delivery to some EU countries. If you get the Performance model that comes with the adjustable regulator and hammer spring then you’ll have even more options for adjusting to that power level.
