New Matador R5M in .25

So did you mount your picatinny rail yet?
Nah not yet. Had another issue with the reg. But I bought the same one you have. I think I might have mentioned it in your thread, but for those buying Magpul stuff, the threading is 10-24. I think I settled on 3/4" length. In the next week or two I'll try.

I did not get a cheek rest for mine but Brian did install a picatinny rail on the forearm very inexpensively.

That stock is so nice. Yeah drilling into wood should be easier since there are fin supports for structural rigidity in the synthetic stock. I really don't want to screw it up. An off center rail would drive me nuts.

Yes I chucked those parts lightly with no problems. Also no problem so far with the light coating of grease on the valve return spring. I had a hunch that it may have been vibrating kind of like the spring in a spring air gun during the shot cycle. The inside edges of each end of the spring had sharp corners where it was ground flat. I gently tapered these using a conical Dremel type Stone at slow speed in my cordless screwdriver. I thought this would help the spring sit on the plastic valve body better without causing stress concentrations. The small aft end of the valve is essentially a guide for the return spring. So far no problems. I did not put any grease on the valve face or valve pin shank.

I purchased a bunch of O-rings from www.theoringstore.com and got great service. Other threads have mentioned www.oringsandmore.com, but I don't have experience with them. I got all the sizes from the schematics which are also available from Edgun West's website.

Here is my order list with application, for Edgun R5M and Leshiy Classic. My plan is to get some divided fishing tackle boxes to organize these with labels for where they go in each rifle, kind of like ready-made kits you can get from places like Captain o-ring.com.

for Edgun R5m (.25 cal) & Leshiy Classic (all calibers), as noted
Quantities are higher than needed because of minimum order quantities from this vendor

QTY x Cross Section Dia. x Inside Dia, material, size notation, total cost, application

15 x 1mm CS X 3mm ID (NBR) Buna-N 70 Duro Metric O-Ring (N1.00X003) = $1.050, for R5m & Leshiy inner valve stem bushing

10 x 1.78mm X 2.57mm (NBR) Buna-N 70 Duro Metric O-Ring (N1.78X002.57 - same as standard #-005) = $0.500, for all fill cap check valve screws

12 x 1.5mm X 5mm (NBR) Buna-N 70 Duro Metric O-Ring (N1.50X005) = $1.080, for fill probe, regulator piston small end, R5m regulator adjusting screw, Leshiy plugs

Thank you so much for you detailed diligence and precision in collating and sharing your research You would make the engineers at Sinn watches and Heckler and Koch proud with your detailed info. I searched far and wide and NO ONE has the accurate information like you put out. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You saved my shooting hobby with my Edgun R5!

@Vsudude ,
Thank you that was very kind. And welcome to the forum by the way. I had a long career as an engineer and I learned that you are a failure if you can't remember, document, and articulate things that you did and learned to solve problems with equipment. I'll be delighted if my notes help you repair and maintain your own R5.

Enjoy your trip down the rabbit hole with these wonderful air guns and if you learn something special about yours, please take good photographs and post some stuff here on the form so we can all see and learn together.

Best regards,
Feinwerk
