Daystate Blackwolf owners discussion

Recieved the BW here today. WOW is what I can say. Much nicer in real than just watching in commercials, YouTUbe etc.

I was prepared it was a big gun. Not for walking around. More a gun for stationary work. The BW and the Revere compliment eachother as one a small for light light carry and viceversa.

I did some intitial testshots only. From factory it was set to 37 ft/ibs with pellets but with reg pressure around 120bar. I set the Reg pressure up to 170bar and it did 36 ft/ibs with 22grain solids with maxed powerwheel.

Daystate says 45 ft/ibs but I must investigate if its the spring I must change to a blue spring to get up there.

I am overall impressed. Never regretted I had to wait. Patience pays of after all.

What barrel do you have? I am having no issues getting the advertised power out of mine with a 23" barrel.

Reg at 130 bar, 17 power wheel, white spring.

Yours is a .22cal(I presume). Mine is a .177cal...but still.
I get your desire to max out the power but what is the accuracy like, say at: 50 / 75 / 100 yards ?
Lets see some groups at those distances at that power level.
To me, power alone means nada, zip if i can't be on target.

Caliber and barrel length?

I finally remembered to take notes on air usage during a recent session, so I thought I'd share.

  • 23" barrel, 480cc bottle, .22 JSB 25.39
  • Regulator 130 bar, power 17, 910-920 fps, ~47 fpe
  • 50 shots used 65 bar
  • 1.3 bar per shot
  • 92 shots per fill, 250 bar -> 130 bar

Not too shabby! I was surprised/impressed.

Probably installed with the white spring from the factory (y) :) 🐺
Changed to a blue and here I got the reason why I wanted this gun. 310 m/sec with 22grain ZAN solid = 50,41 ft/ibs.

Had anybody asked me 20 years ago in regards to a .177cal doing +50 ft/ibs I would have stated it would have been for no avail. But then the 22 and 24 grain solid didn`t excist. Accuracy test will be conducted soon. Its a racecar..

MY very first aimed shots done at 40 meters. I had a small gap today to try out the Daystate BW. This gave me a little indication what I in future can expect for the gun. I had no formel papertarget so a napkin was used. I shot some 54 shots starting with 250bar fill. The reg is set at 170bar and the bottlefill is just slight under 200bar. I must say I am very impressed. The gun has very little mechanical noise. Much less than my Daystate Revere. Since the loooong barrel it does take slight longer followthrough. The trigger I will set a bit lighter next time. Overall the gun is a big gun and to truly get the full potential it must have a steady table with a solid prob to support. I used soft pillows. Its a longrange airgun and not woodswalkers gun but I knew that before ordering. The Revere is much better as a stalker. I had the powerwheel on "10" and blue spring. It will take some time to really finetune this instrument to its full potential. Already now it seems to prefer the 20grainers from H&N and ZAN but let see. That could change.

20grain ZANs. 5 shots

24 grain ZANs didn`r do all that well(yet).

20grain H&Ns 5 shots did ok. More to work with. They have potential.

The 16grain went super sonic. Taken into consideration no bad but not good either. One flyer to the right.
