Numbers at bottom if you want to skip the commentary.....
Okay so after the tex rex carbine .510 dropped I had to get one to play with and in spite of not being an airforce fan boy the numbers caught my attention as a versatile hunter for deer, pigs, rams or even yotes based on the numbers claimed in a short, light platform.
In the past i owned a .510 tx2 carbon full length and it was to long and i found it hit about 800fpe with 800g slugs but they were to loopy for ethical distance ......continued after pics....
hunting for me and with light slugs I couldnt get it to pick up efficiency on speed for a flatter shot either.
The tex rex carbine promised plenty of power for whitetail on low with 4-5 shots and I was not perticularly interested in 2 high power shots anyway with excess power. At 7.25lbs and 39" I can pack that all day on a sling in the woods so I ordered up rings and a leupold vx freedom 1.5-4 lightweight lpvo.
Finally got time to test it today and threw a 3 moa hawk red dot on it to get some chrony numbers. I am impressed right off, I can tell Airforce knocked this out of the park it looks like. Bottle feels tough! More testing later but this was to get a feel for the low power settings. The 2 groups were all together at 22yds but this was every different slug no real group testing as I will do that later. The hole I pointed to was my aim point first group of all different slugs. The pic at bottom is a chrony read for a 4500psi fill 7 shot string on the one fill with a 470g. Still north of 500fpe last shot.
No bias port (low power) first test no cleaning
