I have an Epoch Compact. I mainly shoot it with a .30 barrel but I also have a .22 barrel. It’s a shooter. But it’s a booter. Took a while for me to figure out how to control the .30 for long distance shooting. I have taken out so many critters at 100 and beyond that if I posted videos every time I did, Michael would PM me and tell me to stop. It shoots pellets and slugs in .30. The gun is so unique that I wanted to take it to my sisters for our pellet-fests so I got a .22 kit. The pellet hype with that barrel is a 22gr going warp speed. It will do it with ease but the cleaning regimen is like shooting slugs. Not cool. So I have an 18gr tune at a not so ridiculous speed and it’s fantastic. They sent me a box of slugs with the kit. That box went straight to the currently not in use slug container. Would it shoot them? If they sent me a complimentary box, I’d say so.
The negative? It’s small but chubby. Not not over weight chubby. The safety takes some getting used to and I still occasionally squeeze and forgot to make sure it was glowing red. The trigger? Forget it for hunting. I designed my own trigger system. If I wouldn’t have been able to fix that, the gun would never leave a bench rest setup or went up for sale. I won’t even use a 300cc bottle in .22. I use a 480cc almost all the time. It looks just fine because the gun needs a can. The can adds length and now a 480 looks ascetically pleasing.
In conclusion, it’s one of my favorite airguns ever. But like an FX Impact, I wouldn’t want it to be my only gun.
