@OldVetHow fast would you shoot these for best accuracy. Anyone.?
They are 28 grain HP slugs with a dish base made be APOLO. I know some stuff the sell is dirty I have some , but these are very clean. I drew the circles on target around this dime it's only 15 yards , and I was shooting off a gun rest my Zelos did not fit on wobbly pic nic foldable table for now it's all I have@OldVet
Pellets or slugs? Which brand? Which style projectile (e.g flat-base hollow-point slugs. , rebated bots tail slugs, diabolo wadcutter or domed pellets)? Which platform are you shooting (make and model)? What sort not barrel? Barrel length?
See I only have 15 yards in my small city back yard , but can go out to 100+ in desert , so think from what I've read already I'm going to need more fps than 833 . I'll do a tune for 920 to 950 to start.Looks like nice groups @ whatever yardage it was try that @ 100 see how they do
I've had 2 inch groups at 100yds with those slugs when moving at 820fps, but 880-950 would be your best bet.See I only have 15 yards in my small city back yard , but can go out to 100+ in desert , so think from what I've read already I'm going to need more fps than 833 . Speed isn’t everything. Sometimes its just the relationship of spring valve and pressure that make a piticular barrel workSee I only have 15 yards in my small city back yard , but can go out to 100+ in desert , so think from what I've read already I'm going to need more fps than 833 . If the 28 grain are doing 900 then the 25 should be at 950 with the same tune.I find it hard to imagine a zelos is capable of producing the energy you are saying you will try next.
What is your regulators pressure set at for that? I don't know the limitations of the factory reg, unless you've changed it. Mine is set at right around 1950-2000 psi and pushing 21 grains at 900. Guessing you're somehwere in the 2600-3000 range? If the 28 grain are doing 900 then the 25 should be at 950 with the same tune.
I was trying to reach up to the 950 , but it was not able to best I could get with the 28 grain slugs was an average a little over 900 , so when I get some 25 grain slugs they should go 950.What is your regulators pressure set at for that? What is the max the factory reg can handle without over stressing it too much? I wonder what a extra 60 bar fill would give for shot count. I am waiting on my bottle reg for mine, already have the bottle for 4500 psi.I was trying to reach up to the 950 , but it was not able to best I could get with the 28 grain slugs was an average a little over 900 , so when I get some 25 grain slugs they should go 950.
I very carefully tuned the reg , and hammer spring working together to get that 900 fps in the end , and still that way the reg is at 2,900 , and the hammer 5 turns in. I have the 500 cc bottle at 250 bar , and I was able to get 30 shots. I did 6 extra , and the reg and bottle pressure dropped to 2,700.
I can't wait to get the 25's , and try 50 to 100 yards. I will try the 28's at 50 yards just to see the groups.
Yea i would highly doubt its 2,000 psi max, as in some stock reviews they are set at about that. Mine was also putting out way more fpe than the factory advertised out of the box, so may be underrated in initial specsMax is 2000 in book but Umarex said 3000 , so I imagine maybe more , but when I did try 3 it was lowering my fps.
The hammer has to work in harmony with the reg pressure as well , and anything over 5 turns in lost fps as well. For my careful power tune
2,900 max reg , and 5 turns in on hammer spring working together got me to an average of 900 fps with a 20 shot average.. High 907.2 low 895.3
First 10 only 2 went over 900 last 10 all over 900. Had 1 duplicate at 901.5. Today later I'm to try some 25.4g pellets and see how fast with that power tune. OV.
To reach the speeds you want you'll have to port the gun, I believe @Firewalker has done it. I know he's for sure done it in the .25 making it put out 80fpeI was trying to reach up to the 950 , but it was not able to best I could get with the 28 grain slugs was an average a little over 900 , so when I get some 25 grain slugs they should go 950.

I just did 6 shots of 25.4 pellets was real fast , and my Zelos is stock at least in the internals. To reach the speeds you want you'll have to port the gun, I believe @Firewalker has done it. I know he's for sure done it in the .25 making it put out 80fpe

Nice, how many shots are you getting from one fill at this tune though?I just did 6 shots of 25.4 pellets was real fast , and my Zelos is stock at least in the internals.

That last one was alot of energy 54.5.
Zelos might shoot different with slugs. That's the first time anything's been down that barrel other than 28g slugs.
If the 25 grain slugs are accurate at 100 yards I'll leave the tune , but may have to tune it down a bit.

I got this new double mag for my Zelos , and it holds 18 on each side. I filled it up to 250 bar ( max fill ) , and started shooting I got 36 shots. It fell below reg at 2,800 , so only 100 below.Nice, how many shots are you getting from one fill at this tune though?
