I grabbed my old, 1970 Diana model 35 out of the safe last night and sat down at the bench with it for a while. I couldn't get it to stay on zero no matter what I tried. I was beginning to think that the cheap, CVLife scope had bit the dust, but I ran it over the chrono just to satisfy my curiosity. I think I've found the problem. 🤣 Just check out the chrono string below. Look at that velocity spread! Pretty sure it's got a broken mainspring along with a bad piston seal. She's goin' on the bench soon. Possibly as soon as tomorrow.

That's a lovely example of one of my favorite rifles. Given your experience and abilities, I'm sure you checked the breech seal first!

But yeah my guess might be mainspring. It's hard to kill the leather piston seal in old Dianas (and even harder to remove it, the securing screw is staked with a blind pin).

I have one of these that needs some work, too, so looking forward to the follow-ups.
