Microbore Failure

From time to time, persons comment on the safety of equipment operating at 4500 psi. I had a microbore hose fail this morning while shooting a tethered Panthera. There was no earth shattering ka-boom, only the sad hiss of a 9 liter tank venting to atmosphere. The hose was in-service for 19 years and treated gently.

A very long life, and a predictable failure point. I wonder if a strain relief on the ends would have extended it even further?

We often added external springs to hoses to reduce the strain on the joint. Would that have prevented a (19) year failure? IDK

Thank-you for sharing the information. Did any of the powder burner shooters complain about the noise?

Hmmm not sure i would trust a hose for that long of a time ? I would question if a PCP hose made that long ago was rated @ 4500 PSI ?

Sooner or later it'll happen to all of us. My 1st year I had ss braided microbore hose that lasted 2 months & died with a very loud POP & ripped apart the ss braid around it. Still using its replacement 9 years later. May be time to change it out

The hose had a coiled spring strain relief. I moved it out of the way to take the picture.
Aside from old age, this hose was permanently connected to the DIN 300 fitting. The replacement hose will connect using a Foster fitting so the hose can be removed and stored stress free between uses.
