Slug Opinions

My culcan 3 hp .30 has a slugged barrel at .3055 and avs .3063 shoot good just tight on probe closing i have not compared .3055 yet as im waiting on press and dies. I would imagine to small and your losing velocity with air blowby and to tight lose velocity on excessive friction ...like goldi locks will prolly shoot better when its just right...for my sake i hope so as i have lys invested just to be a little beter

I shoot 218 h&n slugs very good but very few measure 218 most 217 or 217.5 . As to bore & groove all I can say is at my age I am a bore but lack groove . :p
You would need to slug the barrel and measure groove ridge gently with precise calipers. That’s your barrel diameter, guaranteed AVS has that diameter. Good luck. If you don’t know how to slug a barrel, watch Air velocity sport on YouTube, specifically epic 2 slugging barrel and range shooting. Key in on slugging technique.

I willassume that a barrel that is .218 would not shoot smaller diameter slugs very well or as well as a .218 . Correct me if I am wrong but what about a .217 barrel shooting .218 . Any experience with and conclusions about this would be much appreciated . Muches grabass !
That isn't necessarily true. Too many variables in barrels for an assumption like that.
I shoot a slug that's .0025" undersized a .2475" diameter from a .250" groove .243 bore barrel.
So don't let someone else's "facts" stop you from even trying different slugs.
A .218" in a .217" or 2175" barrel hasn't been any good in the barrels I've tried though.
Test, test, and test some more..........
