Randolph front rest

My question is how fast do you need to be from sighters to score shots for n50. To be honest I just started f class rimfire and I hardly ever look much at the wind flags probably need too lol. But once you start for score you can't do sighters anymore. We are here allowed unlimited sighters on first round till we start for score and the following rounds only 2 sighters. I've only shot 1 state championship match and start of another before rain stopped it. i shot a 885/1000 at state and a 198/200 on the other match that was shut down. So I am trying to learn this bench stuff to keep pulling the trigger with rimfire and air rifle

I have both rests. The Randolph is a heavier more stable rest than the AR250 and a couple hundred dollars more. One can switch tops at a price but on my new Randolph the adjustment controls suck, do not know what happened to their quality control but it's not good paying the price. I also shoot both rimfire and air-rifle and use the AR250. I like the speed, ease and lightness of the rest for transport. The only thing I like on the Randolph is their removable tops. All of my rimfire and air rifles have either 3" plates or forends. If you can find a used Randolph with the top you are referring that would be good. The last 3 new Randolph's I've seen here all had control issues. One would need to take apart and fix.
I'm sorry to hear that Randolph's QC is in the tank. My Randolph front is at least 9 years old and it's always been smooth and steady.

No this is just the iPhone safari
I just checked and my iPhone is doing the same thing. I went to the bottom of the page and hit visit webpage. It open up to their web page without an issue. I did call them 2 weeks ago and place an order with.

I do have one of their front rest and it works great. I have 3 tops for it and use 2 tops all the time.

I’ve had 3 different joy stick rest and not a fan of them.

Ok cool I will try it then. Like I said I'm trying to figure out which way to go. Just front no joystick , joystick or just use my phoenix and rear bag.

I’ve always liked the joystick rest, I had a Farley that I loved. This I bought for CF Benchrest, worked perfectly for 100 & 200 yd. BR. Went to use for 25m and could not cover the whole card L to R with out moving the rear bag so you lost your quick advantage of going from record to sighter. But would definitely buy a joystick again! Probably be a SEB though! $$$$

The older ones true the new ones not so.
We need to rework a new one with ceramic glide plates, and either a helicoil on the elevation knob, or better a hardened knob out of 17-4 or similar that wont get gaulded sloppy and loose. The windage is spring loaded and sometimes catches on one of mine. I need to figure that out. Im left handed so i actually have to be careful to stay off of it on that side, or i can push a little on the spring side and find any slop in the threads when i do. Tighter thread there would be good. But your right, the older rest have a better feel. Improvements could be made, but for the $, i still think the Randolph 1 piece is best value out there, as far as function, and i speak as a new player in this game whos tried a lot of different set ups, in searching for what best suits me. I started off a bunch of different bipods, from cheap knock off, then went to a sinclaire, then a joypod, then upgraded to a Seb neo, tried 4 or 5 homade rest, and tried improving all of the above in various ways. Finally got a few Randolphs, i made adapters and improvements for them to suit me better, and its the most user friendly of all of em ive found. It takes my imperfections out of the game and lets me focus on my gun, what it likes, and the wind.

Ok well I am not a tinkier so I want something that will work with out me having to modify it to work better. I am also a lefty so trying to figure out what works for me being backwards lol.

Id take up tinkering if your gonna do this. Just my opinion.
You're probably right but in my opinion if I'm spending over $1000 for stinking rest I shouldn't have to do a thing to it. If that's the case with the most of these high dollar machine rest then I will find a different option. One that actually does what it says it does. My money comes too hard to know I'm buying something and gonna have to make it work. Not trying to upset anyone but that's my opinion

Some in this discipline can afford to pay someone else to get them to where they want to be, but most tinker. We see something or hear of an idea that works for someone, and we integrate or apply it to our own set ups to see if we gain anything from it. Sometimes small changes make huge improvements, other times it may go the opposite and make things fall apart. For me its constant tinkering, but im definitely a habitual tinkerer. Even if it seems to be working perfect, im going to replicate the set up, and make changes. Sometimes its not accuracy related, it may be ease of set up/storage, or making it to acommodate more than 1 gun, theres allways a work or idea in progress.

You're exactly right a lot of guys like to tinker and enjoy it and consider it part of the game. I just wanna shoot, I have buddies that love to reload cause they love the detail and tweaking their loads. I used to be that way but after 20 years of centerfire competition and reloading I got burnout. So maybe I'm just lazy now. I guess I'm the guy that will pay for that because to me it's worth it.

With that said, i can see you eating a carrot and growing long ears.
Oh gosh that's what worries me. When I started shooting when I was 16 it was Pistol bull's-eye competitions and I started cheap and when I could afford to pay Dad more money for better pistols and buy more reloading components I did. When my dad passed five years ago I got out of it because it wasn't the same anymore and the amount of money I have in 1911s is ridiculous. So yeah I'll be the big fat bunny with really long ears chewing on carrots sitting on the bench shooting probably lol

Well stay a rabbit, you come across rabbits down here with feathers on their feet, as a newbie myself i gotta warn ya, them feathers get ruffled easy.
Now that's funny. Yeah I've ran into that already some of the older crowd gets upset when someone younger comes in for the first time or is a newbie and just whip them on a regular basis. But you know in all my years of competition there's always someone better at one point or another. Maybe it's just for one match maybe it's for one season and then they go back to what they were originally. I've been that way. I can get my butt whooped with the best of them and I can whoop butt with the best of them. I never take it serious enough that it eats at me I'm just glad I have the opportunity to do it and most importantly 99% of the people and all the shooting competitions I've done in my life are great people that are willing to bend over backwards to help you learn and become better knowing there's a chance you could be on the podium and not them. That is a true competitor.
