Ground Squirrel /Chipmonk, that's going to be a tough shot at those distances. Agree with get them in closer!
Edit, a .177 is what I would use.

A .22, 35.5gr slug still has plenty of heat @ that distance. As others mentioned getting closer is always better but not to close you give yourself away.

Honestly at 175 it wouldn’t be an airgun at all. I know they are capable and at 100 or less my Gauntlet in 25 would be okay as long as I do my job but I would go for a .17hmr rimfire to be absolutely sure. BTDT in a similar situation.

Slugs guns are more than capable upwards of that yardage. We are not taking about brown bears.

I've been in a similar situation-How much time do you want to spend? A box trap like the Squirrelinator works while you're doing other things. Set one or more near the burrows and bait with something they like. You may have to leave the doors wired open at first to get them used to going in. The trap comes with a tub to dispatch the catch by drowning. I've used and still use these in situations where being next to a road with a gun is a bad idea. A combination of shooting and trapping should be pretty effective.
I cleared our 50 acres in 2010 with a .22 cal Beeman R9 breakbarrel, but I was a lot younger and more patient back then! I would do patrols morning , noon and evening.
A warning-the crack of a headshot is moderately addictive!
I have ground squirrels to thank/blame for my obsession and large collection of airguns.........

I use an FX M3 in 30 cal. 600mm bbl. 885 fps. I use to use a 22 but wanted to put them down so they don’t run back in the hole. Found the 30 works much better. You can hear the wap when you connect. I try to get closer and use primos trigger stix tripod to steady.
