I bought a “We The Plinkers” Daystate Huntsman Revere Regulated .25 package a few years ago, I got a phone call from them the next day saying the standard scope was out of stock, would I mind if they subbed a better one, so heck yeah! They gave me a nice Athlon Talus BTR 4-14x44 IR, about a $100 upgrade. The down side was that they ship that rifle in the included soft case, inside a hard box, and they never gave me ANY of the documentation (manuals). I assume that was an oversight?
Three weeks ago I put a deposit on a new
Weihrauch HW30N Special Edition Walnut Air Rifle.22 RH with the fancy Italian oiled stock. I am a sucker for that wood, the same as my Huntsman…. After enquiring I was told that they offer an FGR “Fine Gun Room” upgrade for $150 that will guarantee that I get one of the very best looking ones out of the entire lot. That seems really steep, I had asked if for $20 extra they could look at three guns at random and give me the nicest one….. I am reluctant to pay an extra $150 for a $550 rifle, but OTH some stocks are just spectacular. Since they do offer the service, I am sure a handful of buyers would get the best ones and I would inevitably end up with a less desirable “leftover”.
“The stunning walnut stock of the HW30N SE is the result of a year-long collaboration between Minelli, Weihrauch, Gehmann, and Airguns of Arizona—a fusion of German, Italian, and American craftsmanship. Only select walnut is used for this special edition, with every piece meticulously hand-cut and sanded to achieve its distinctive shape, sharp cheekpiece edges, and soft-forend contours.”
Nowhere does the ad mention that I would essentially have to pay 25% more to be sure to get one of the best ones…. It is not random! Do any of you use this FGR upgrade and did you get a nicer gun because of it? I cannot even find a MENTION of this on their website! How do I know if the FGR is real? They could pocket my $150 and send me any rifle….. Comments? Thanks!
