Pellet sizing with a T.R. Robb sizer…

This might be a thread showing off my n00bness, but so be it.

Ordered these from Mr. Robb in jolly ol’ England and finally got around to using it since I had time today. I noticed that my Diana 54 liked pellets at 5.48mm head size because bigger than that made for difficult seating in the chamber, so I sized some RWS wadcutters I was using down from 5.54.

Aside from match shooters, how many of y’all size pellets to each rifle as a normal part of plinking? Just like for centerfire, I try to remove as many variables as I can to ensure confident shot placement.

Or am I nuking backyard plinking far too much? 😉

Finally decided to try one of my pellet sizers. these are easier to use than the one pictured by the OP - note I have both. thi one is from the shooters box in usa. Nice tool as it fixed many deformed skirts an caught several too small pellets

The TR Robbs are a tapered sizer. They preserve a larger skirt than head, although at a smaller ratio most pellets have as OEM. This is usually desirable for pellets.

@cavedweller, I have one in .25 like the one you show. It's a push-through, and will leave pellet head and skirt the same diameter. I use it for a go/no-go on my cast .25 slugs.

I like the tapered sizing. Tried many depth and tested on paper varius distances.
Finally ended up fixing the depth at a position where the cone creates a minimum but clear ring all around on pellet head, and of course that gives a nice ring on skirt edges as well.
Inspecting with a high magnification jewellery lupe ;)
The resized head actually rides = and orients the pellet on the lands, the skirt closes the air gap on the grooves.
