How many of ya are going to stay with the airforce texan 457ss or the 510 over the tex rex?and why

Keeping my .457 Carbine. Does all I need it to do. The Tex Rex would give me nothing other than bragging rights at this point.

i would like to upgrade my Texan Tx2 Valve at 3625psi to the new T rex valve at 4500 psi for my Texan .510... 4500 psi has more power than 3625 psi.. For me id like more fps...820 fps kinda slow

lol… The Tex Rex .510 is putting out numbers I’ve only seen out of my personal build. That’s why I’ve been communicating with the manufacturer over the last two days. I’m trying to get my hands on the .457 for a new build that’s been on the drawing board for nearly six months. Unfortunately, there is no release date, or any other information available on when, or if, the .457 Tex Rex will be built.

457 prototype testing is underway now at Airforce with plans to release at Shot Show in 2026 with production shortly after. when offering a lifetime warranty they need to test every design well so that they don’t get a lot of repair issues…

ACCURATE MOLDS , has a really great mold line for .457 if i managed to get a hold of a few more thousands pounds of lead. Will certainly get one for sure.. I stopped purchasing lead because of the lack of time to process the 4 thousand pounds i got .

I will send you a few pounds of quality powder coating to cover all that soft lead when cast..Powder Coated slugs are really nice in a good barrel..I can do 25 lbs of slugs ar a time powder coating with shake and bake method.. 25lbs of 650 grain .510 not that many..lol...

Got the carbine .51 kitted the way I want and I installed the high power bias port. Cant wait to test. Got the discovery optics 2-12 ffp lvpo Air Shootist had reviewed, he has a 10% code and link on his youtube video. 16 moa hold under should get me to 190yards with a 390g without any turret adjustments. Got to retest test with the high power and all ranges of slug weights again. Going for a reasonably flat shooter.

I think I would choose a Series D Texan LSS before the newer design and the Tex Rex. No experience with either, but the plastic trigger guard frame thing doesnt make me feel great and I like the idea of having a long barrel and shroud. Airforce has been closing out their old Series D rifles at distributors everywhere and I was tempted to buy an LSS for the ~$800 I saw but ended up with a Condor in 25Cal instead.
At the end of the day even the Rex is still kinda border line for real hunting imo. The fpe numbers are still a shadow of any average PB, so a Texan LSS would be a better choice. But thats just my personal take.
Honestly it feels like Airforce is on the verge of losing the market entirely and they had to get something more powerful out to compete with the likes of AEA. They need to revamp their whole lineup to include a better frame that is more rigid with picatinny rails and a freaking magazine. Even a 2 or 3 shot repeater would put them back in the spot light. Old school stubbornness has sunk more than a few really great companies over the years. Gotta get with the times Airforce!

I have the tex-rex in .510. Biggest complaint applies to all Airforce guns. No magazine. However, I think something is not right with mine. It kicks so hard that it bruises my shoulder after about 5 shots, and despite their claim of 5-shots per tank, mine is consuming 1000psi per shot resulting in only 1 accurate shot per tank

Most of the info I have seen on the Rex is more like 1-2 good shots on a fill depending on starting pressure and hammer settings etc. I think AF total shot count claims are assuming the lowest and best efficiency settings, and might be a bit optimistic.

the more u shoot the more it kicks.. if u shoot past 2000psi u risk dumping the tank.. if your shooting with the .069 or no screw you can get 3 shots the 3rd shot will kick more as you get closer to 2000psi.
