My Nuong compressor's power supply failed (*The Nupong is a clone of GX CS1 and a zillion other shoebox compressors).

These are the same type of power supply that is used for many 120 volt/12 volt compressors such as GX CS2 & CS3

I have a spare power supply, but of course I wanted to fix the problem.

A lucky flash of red showed that the NTC 5D-15 negative thermister in the input stage was failing.

I ordered these off Amazon, so will only need to remove the circuit board and solder in a new one.

Let's see if crowing early leads to glory or egg on my face.

I have a short video, showing the other side of the fried one, but the one in my spare shows the thermister better.

I had swapped the failed air compressor's power supply for the spare power converter that I use as a battery charger and power converter around the garage.
That's why the wires are on this one's circuit board.

Service is simply removing the circuit board from the case and replacing the thermister. The glass (Buss-type) fuse is worth noting as these rarely, but do fail.

When I convert one of these power supplies to charge batteries and power things like vehicles being serviced, I usually solder in an ATC or Mini fuse holder placed outside the case. When replacing one of the glass fuses, I've found it is often more difficult than replacing the fuse with a fuse holder, or simply solder the new glass fuse to the sides of the blown one.

The fried thermister is visible, just above the terminal strip, 3rd screw from the right.
