RTI New gun!

I just got a brand new .25 cal RTI Mora Sniper. I sighted it in at the range and took it out hunting the next day.
My first squirrel was at 97 yards then a rabbit at 100 yards then another squirrel at 155 yards. I ended up getting 12 more squirrels most being around 50 to 100 yards.
This gun was super easy to setup and tune. I am currently shooting 45 grain ZAN hollow points at 100fpe and I’m getting 50 shots.

Jesus dude that's fantastic! Beautiful view!

Incredible.

Quick question. We all have different levels of physicalfitness. My guess is that your rig is about 15 lbs with the scope, bipod, moderator, slugs? I'm curious: Do you move around much when hunting with that rig or do you find a spot and mostly just stay put while picking away at the targets when they pop up?

I have a similar set up, weighs just under 17 pounds. I have trucked through the woods with it and it's not ideal, even with a sling. I'm having to drape it across my shoulders and hold onto a leg from the bipod to have it be 'comfortable'. I'm fairly fit and work out 3x a week. It gets heavy. It's definitely a long-range field kind of gun where you can set it down for a bit. You'll definitely want to look for a lighter weight set up if you're going to be trucking through the woods.

Thank you. Appreciate the insight. It looks like an amazing setup indeed.

Thanks Ultralight. Just got my 25 Mora sniper and set it to 910 for 50 grain Alteros and 1000 for 38 grain Griffins. Off to the range for the first time tomorrow
I take it slugs are different from pellets which I use. I don't think a lot of pellets would be accurate around 1000fps though I would love to push my pellets to that speed. But slugs are different presumably due to the shape.

You have a fine PCP.

I’m not sure the weight on it as it sites. I know it’s heavier than my .30 FX Impact. Most of the weight is on the rear of the Mora. That is why I moved the bipod as close to the trigger as I could to help balance it out. The Mlock on the bottom of the gun made adding the mono pod easy and it adds adjustability to the gun. I usually hike to a nice spot that allows me some place to setup and hide.I will stay there overlooking a large area picking of targets until there are none left. Then I will move to another area and do the same.

@CBR400RR - North SLO County? Stunningly beautiful countryside. Seven sisters (cinder cones)in the background? That’s heaven on earth! Congrats on your new RTI.
This is my friends property in Ramona which is San Diego county. Yes it is beautiful and there are a lot of beautiful places to hike and hunt down there.

I agree, my Impact is lighter and more comfortable to walk around with but it’s not the same quality as the Mora nor near the power. I don’t mind the weight, I just cross my arms and cradle it as I hike to my setup spot.

I only use slugs to hunt as they have a lot higher BC than pellets. And when a 45 grain hollow point slug hit a squirrel around 1000fps it makes a huge POP. Even the squirrel I got at 155 yards was way louder than the gun was when I pulled the trigger. Completely maxed out I think I could push the 45 grain slugs close to 1500fps.

Yes pellets are very different in their desire for velocity. The newer long range slugs have round noses and do prefer a slower speed though
Actually the slugs I’m using and have used all like to go 980 or faster. People are now making ELR “Extreme Long Range” boat tail slugs that like to go over 1000fps minus. I have seen slugs hit targets out to 300, 400 and 500 plus yard targets. The longest confirmed Airgun hit on a target was at RUMAC I believe and it was 1020 yards hit a 10” target on video in front of a lot of people.
