Taipan Taipan Veteran Long finding it’s legs

I picked up this Taipan Veteran long in .25 on the classifieds here about a year ago. It has an extended plenum, external dial power adjuster, and a Donny FL Koi. I found an Element Titan 5-25x56 on the classifieds a few months later and mounted it up.

I finally am getting it ready to put lead on target. Today, I ran a mag of JSB 34 grainers over the chrono to confirm speed so I can get an idea of a zero and trajectory in chair gun.

10 shots 33.95 JSB. Fps:
918
919
920
916
913
919
917
909
921
915

Averaging about 917fps for around 64fpe.
In spite of all this power, it is SO quiet. All I hear is the hammer spring.

Can’t help but be impressed by the Vet.

curious, what is your reg set to ?
I am not sure. I haven’t change anything since getting the Taipan from the previous owner. I am pretty sure he got it from Tony at Talon Tunes, so likely as tuned by Tony.

The hammer spring is pretty much maxed out, so I am hoping it is accurate as is, or improves if dialed down a little.

Hopefully I get a nice slow wind evening in the next week to zero it.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have my standard vet in 25 Caliber. As tuned my Tony I’m running 25.39 JSBs at 980 fps. Best 50 yard group so far is a .350” in perfect wind conditions. I’m making consistent hits on 2” steel targets at 82 and 96 yards.

I have used my Veteran Compact .25 in the yard for lots of short range critter-gitter work. Hard not to like the Vets. Dat trigger doh…
