Scba filling valve questions

I have two scba tanks. One has a quick fill adapter added on it and the other doesn’t. I’m wanting to add valves to I can fill them from my compressor.
I know I can use the CGA347 and I’m assuming I can just swap it from one tank to the other, but the reviews are terrible on basically the only one I could find. A lot of people said the gauge will just rupture.
Would I be better off just replacing the entire valve on each tank with a 7/8-14UNF fill valve? I will have to buy two of them, but that may be a better solution than having my gauge explode. And will this even work?
I’m adding pictures of the SCBA valves and links to the two possibilities.

Flpanhandler is not talking about the gauge on the SCBA tank, he's referring to the liquid filled gauge that comes with the cheap CGA347 valve. What happens is the gauge builds pressure, causing the plug to blow out and leak oil. The one he has in the link is $47.92. I say you get what you pay for.

You are correct.
All of the CGA347 gauges I found, which was not many, all seem to be in the same price range. Is there a better quality one you know of?

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND getting THIS fill adapter with the "hand tightening" nut. Alleviates the need for wrench to tighten adapter on tank. A friend just got the nut type and it will only seal to the tank if a wrench is used. All of mine are the hand tightening. Never any problems. Replace the glycerin filled gauge with one that has no glycerin or just empty it out. It's NOT necessary. There's no vibration coming from tank. I know what I'm talking about (having spent over 30 years dealing with this stuff). You don't have to buy a pricey gauge either. All they truly do is give a ball park estimate (within 100-150 lbs). @Flpanhandler - Is there something wrong with the valves on your SCBA bottles? Why can’t you simply use a hand tight CGA347 fill whip assembly - Joe Brancotto owner of TopGunAirguns makes an outstanding fill whip assembly & he used to give AGN members a discount; heck he still might & his product is top shelf quality. As far as I have ever encountered No one has come close to his quality on the open market. I have had mine for nearly 10 years & it’s still like brand spanking new after years of reliable service.

It has not been my experience that any valve on the market, threaded into a SCBA bottle, will out last a dedicated SCBA valve. I will take that to the Bank & Double Down on that statement. Firefighters lives depend on it! Others will try to get you to by their valves saying things like “The flow of SCBA valves are too hard to control ” “It’s risky or dangerous to fill a PCP up with an SCBA valve because it fills too fast”. Nothing could be further from the truth - it is a bunch of Baloney! SCBA valves are no different than opening the valve on your hose bib to use a garden hose. You are at the helm and in control of the flow.

I ordered the valve from the second link that I posted. It is due to arrive in about a week. I will update once I have it on and have used it. The only downside to that one is that I have two Tanks which means I will have to order a second one if I like it rather than swapping back-and-forth between the first option.

Hey FLpanhandler. The board won't let me reply to your FX M3 ad, but I am interested in talking to you about it. Not sure how to do that as the system won't let me PM either for some reason.

Pretty sure you need 10 posts and 10 days on the forum in order to PM. Replying to classified ads has been disabled for ages because of negative comments.

That's the one I have and it works fine. I've had it over 5 years.
