my friend went to his property in Hawaii, Lots of Hogs there, not afraid and roaming around in the Day time, he didn't bring anything to shoot them, he said easy 25-50ft shot distance, when he gets back we will get him a cheap air rifle to take to Hawaii, probably a Hatsan Flash .25 or an Avenger .25, He's "Cheap" so what ever fits his budget and a cheap pump....:giggle:

Not sure of your location but i wish we could hunt hogs here on the west coast as easy as some other areas, they're mainly confined to private property and the ranchers have learned they can charge to hunt them. not like the south were they run rampant and are pests.
Careful what you wish for. With the property values out there, I don’t think you want them anywhere near you. Ask the folks in Northern California. I recall reading about them coming out of the hills and destroying yards on expensive properties. They can wreck a little California yard in a less than an hour.

I wont ever have to worry as I'm in the desert and they don't come anywhere near me. but yeah they are much more profound in northern Cali, but there's so much land and rolling foot hills up there, everything is land locked. The ranchers have figured out how to charge up to 1500 per pig for outsiders to come and do the pest control for them....pretty convenient to get paid for someone else to do your pest control....lol

I lived in the San Diego area for most of my life, I tried to hunt Hogs up behind Palomar Mountain, near Ranchita, didn't have any luck, but there supposed to be some in the area of Palomar Mountain and S-2, I heard there was a few on the backside of Julian and on the Barona Indian reservation, never got a chance to hunt there, also supposed to be some Hogs up near Tehachapi and Bakersfield area and up the HWY 395 corridor, that's what I've heard for Southern California, I still haven't encountered any Hogs Here yet, just what the game camera has caught, but I need to go to the property late at night to have a chance at them, gonna check the camera again tomorrow to see if there has been any activity since they brought back the cows.... ;)

Oh BTW, my friend changed his mind, he's going to take his 10/22 .22 LR and try to get the Hogs, he's cheap and doesn't want to spend the money for an Air rifle, well when the Neighbors call the cops, he might change his mind.....
maybe use subsonic rounds, they'll be a little quieter
