just shot at it today. it is indeed pretty cool! worked out better than i imagined. “TUNGG” outside the hole and “TINGGG!” inside the hole.

strictly airgun target.. unless it gets shot at when we aren’t there. we shoot on private property

Is that a piece of square tubing on the back of a plate? It makes a really nice sound. I’m a bit of a hobbyist welder and I’d like to try that idea. Thanks.just made this fun lil ting!

The piece being struck by the pellet? I like your method for hanging that piece as well. Awesome Target.

yes. hitting the red plate is a lower pitched tone. getting in the 1” center hole will be the higher pitched “TINGG!”.

Inspired... I'll keep my eyes open where ever I go now for stuff to make one. I do have the tools. Cut off grinder, bench top drill press and a welder.

i have another plate with a 1/2” hole in the center but i opted for the 1” hole at 30 yards for my friends son to shoot with a .177.
we shot it with .25 k1 at 30 yards and it shows no signs of damage.
next one i’m going to make will have progressively smaller holes

I made one.. kinda.
I used 2 4" gongs. 1 attached to a board with a 5/16 hole in it and the other on a swing behind it. It's still a work in progress but I'll post pics when it's done. I made the board wide enough to hang a 8 x 11 paper target next to it for a second target option. I'll cut the center of the board out for the paper target area.
The plan is to eventually turn it into a trap to reclaim the lead.

Old 12 inch saw blades made a very loud ring when shot,, Going to hang me one behind a 1 inch hole ,

I agree. Old circular saw blades make terrific gongs for air rifles. The larger diameter the better. 12” and 14” blades seem to have a ring that just hangs in the air for several seconds.

While going thru wally world the other day I picked up a set of (3) 6 1/2" saw blades for $10.44 for pellet gun shooting I find they are great.
