Sightron S6 10-60x56

Are the turrets better on the S3? They said they made them larger in the videos reviews I watched.
I think the S6 turrets are much better than on the S6. Here's what I like:

1. Larger turret with bigger, more easily read numbers
2. More positive clicks
3. Color coded horizontal hashmarks
4. Zero-stop. This helps me establish a clear reference point to click from, since I need more than one full rotation to cover all distance.

Thanks John. I saw some people had added a larger cap on the S3 turret but that wouldn’t affect most of the items you listed

IMHO - Not completely Brandon - there are two things at play here. The glass is excellent and at low(er) magnification the depth of field is huge. At higher magnification (say 50X), where most scopes turn dark, the target will snap into focus with the S6 10-60FT.
Sightron also has added the huge amount of movement from 40-55 yards - true. However, this does not hinder the target snapping into focus. It is just confusing because of the large amount of wheel movement that we aren't used to from all other scopes.

It really is a step up from the S3 - if you are clicking
I'm still having a lot of trouble range finding with my S6 past 45 yards, even at 60x. I've posted more details at: https://airgunwarriors.com/community/postid/69489/

I agree that part of the problem is the larger parallax wheel movement on the S6, but I think there may be other issues. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for WFT shooters who are trying to switch to from the S3 to the S6.

John
I have not switched to open or WFT yet. When I do this will become the next project. If someone else comes up with an answer I hope it will be posted here.

as an aside my wife shot with someone in HFT using a S6 and he did as well as he has/had with his S3

When comparing scopes do apples to apples. I think many take a quick look through a scope at a match and declare an opinion, good or bad but not an informed opinion. Unless you set up the focus properly before moving to the parallex adjustment your not getting true information. Compunding this a large percentage of shooters don't know how do do this because they never read the directions. Argue if you feel the need, but in 60 years of competitive shooting this is true. Compare scopes set up for your eyes, side to side. Put a newspaper up to focus on in less than great conditions, the truth will be revealed or look at the bark on a tree, that works also. Brightness and resolution will tell you what your eyes like.
